In this section you’ll find out all about our monthly meetings, what events we have planned, and more importantly how to get to them.
When and Where
Meetings are held at 8:00pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Fremantle Lawn Tennis Club, Parry St, Fremantle (hall opens at 6:30pm - please arrive before 7:30pm). Parking is available on Parry St and in nearby Ellen St, along with several other nearby places (fees are payable - telephone the City of Fremantle on 9432 9899 for details).
What Happens at Each Meeting?
Most meetings follow a similar pattern as set out below:
Circuit Sheets Each meeting starts with circuit sheets before the meeting at 7pm.
Short Meeting Each meeting starts with a short official meeting. This is the time when new members are welcomed, correspondence is read, reports (if needed) are given, and other items of general business are dealt with, including any votes that need to be taken. In December, this meeting is followed by the Annual General Meeting.
Sale by Tender A sale by tender (auction) takes place at each meeting where members can buy and sell items of philatelic interest. At our April meeting we have our Annual General Auction with over 400 lots. Restrictions exist about the number of lots members can place in monthly and the Annual General Auction - please see a committee member for more information.
Displays or Competitions At most meetings a display is given by a member of the society, or a competition is run. Displays have ranged from The Himalayas to Strike Mail to Russian overprints. There are at least two competitions a year and December our Christmas function.
Circuit Sheets Pages taken from Circuit Books are circulated amongst members at the end of each meeting allowing members to purchase stamps from them.
The Library is also open at most meetings and members can also receive Circuit Books at home. More information on the services the Society offers members can be found on the Services to Members page.
