Remembering the calendar for a year

This system is used to work out what day of the week for a a given date in a year. These are the steps:

• Make a list of the dates for the first Sunday of each month. The year 2002 has these dates: 6 3 3 7 5 2 7 4 1 6 3 1.
• Convert these numbers into their phonetic equivalents, then make a work. I chose the phrase GEE MUM COLIN CRIED ASHAMED.
• Once you know the date for the first Sunday you can find the dates for following Sundays by adding 7 then deriving the day of the week.

For example: What date is Christmas 2002? First Sunday of December is the 1st (the last "D" in Ashamed). Adding 21 (3 weeks) gives 22nd December as a Sunday, so Christmas falls on a Wednesday.

My phrase for 2003 is LINEN SHIRT JAMAICA LANKY. Therefore, Christmas 2003 falls on a Thursday.
