Chris Moy is the Founding President and Station Manager at Valley FM 89.5 (1VFM) in Canberra. He has been interested in radio since a very early age. When he was 10 years old, Chris set up a small studio in his mother’s home in Canberra. Since then, Chris has been involved in radio as an announcer and trainer at 3ZZZ in Melbourne, VIC, and later at 2UUU in Nowra, NSW. Between 1993 and 1996 Chris was heavily involved, as a volunteer, in establishing a commercial radio station (Radio Klasik 89.65MHz) in Jakarta, Indonesia. There he was the station's trainer, administration assistant and presenter of two classical music programs each week.

A fully qualified electronics technician (Chris was in the Royal Australian Navy for 25 years), Chris is also a linguist and a qualified teacher. He taught Indonesian and Malaysian at the Canberra Institute of Technology for a number of years and has worked in the field of training design and analysis. He now works as a Public Servant.

When Chris is not working full time at his day job, or managing Valley FM 89.5 as an unpaid volunteer, some of his other hobbies include: travel, music, amateur dramatics, photography, computing, audio production, steam trains, lighthouses and collecting ephemera (useless memorabilia like theatre programs, airline timetables, shipping and aviation magazines, brochures, etc.). Chris is also a member of the Lions Club and the Tuggeranong Community Council (otherwise referred to as a "Progress Association" in most states and territories). He is also on the Committees of the Lone Fathers Association (Australia) Inc. and local school P&C Associations.

Chris is very honoured to have been awarded a Centenary medal for his community work, a Community Service Award in 2000 for his work at Valley FM, and he was selected to carry the Queen's Baton for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He has also been awarded the Australian Defence Medal (ADM).

As a family man, Chris is extremely fortunate to have a very supportive wife, who tolerates his incredibly busy lifestyle, and most importantly, who also enjoys folk music!
