Drive-In Pallet Rack
Drive-In Rack is a high density type of pallet storage system that offers a
limited amount of selectivity when it is compared to a Selective Rack system.
Pallets are densely stored in bays by the forklift actually driving into the
rack structure several positions deep and high to store and retrieve pallet
loads. This type of a system stores and retrieves pallets from the same aisle in
a last-in, first-out order making Drive-In Rack ideally suited to operations
that maintain a large quantity of a relatively low number of SKUs (stock keeping
units). Normally, the same SKU and/or lot number is stored in the same bay
because each level operates dependently of the other levels within the same bay.
