Marginally Updated August 2003
Hi. I'm Col Bernau. Finally updating this, after about a couple of years.
I've seen a couple of other Atari pages in Australia, they should be in my
links page, and I've included a lot of my hotlist links from CAB/STik, and,
more recently Netscape. Yes, I have to admit it - my Ataris don't get as much
use as they used to, mainly due to my moves into the area of digital direct-to-hard
disc audio.
I've recorded my first CD!!
It's called
"First
Take".. I set myself a deadline of
Christmas Day, 1998, and squeezed it in by a matter of
hours......
In June 1998, I finished a CD of my two daughters, Kirsty and Alicia, who play flute and piano, respectively. Called "Siblings", it is a collection of classical duos and solos, and highlights the talent of these two young musicians.
The next project is to be a jazz/fusion album, where I can get my rocks off more, and generally have fun! :)
Two friends of mine are also heavily into Atari - we're all ex-members of the now defunct Atari user group - Malcolm Cooke, the potter (and Machead) and TT owner, and Falcon owner Yiannis Paschalidis, ST/Falcon and PC programmer and unrecoverable 'netaholic.....
For Atari users' interest, I'm running a 4 meg Mega STE, with a Matrix Coco card for VGA graphics (Ataris look great with 640x480!) CDrom and a 750 meg external Quantum - no, it's nowhere near full - about 400 meg spare! (how many Windoze users could say that?) I'd like to move up to a CLab Falcon or a TT or some such, when funds permit. I do a lot of DTP, music, etc.
These days, I must admit to giving in and also owning a Pentium III 1.2ghz, (no doubt upgrading later this year ), since the audio apps on the PC's are so demanding (anyone got a Falcon they want to give away?), though I've also had a lot more trouble with it than I've ever had with an Atari. Being locally known as something of an Atariphile, and using a few at ST's at Marist College, I often get given odds and ends. :)
You can still get a lot of mileage out of an ST - it's only recently that Macs and PC's can match its midi timing, and how many programs can you fit on a 720k disc for those machines? :)
I' m also a member of COZMO (Capital of australia Mandolinata Inc.) so here's a link:
I've also included some text files that have turned up on newsgroups and such that could be useful to fellow Atarians:
Using
a VGA monitor with an Atari ST
Connecting
a PC Mouse to an ATARI
SM124
monitor faults and fixes
What
do those TOS error numbers mean?
How
do I use a second hard drive on my
MegaSTE?
Any comments?
