AB-01 TREAD Armo-Bomber
Like the Legioss, the TREAD is VTOL capable in Armo-Bomber mode. The TREAD cannot achive
the Mach 8.3 speed listed in normal flight. Rather, it is used to boost the TREAD (and
attached Legioss) into space. It has a delta-v capacity of 11.8 kps.
The TREAD is more fuel hungry than the Legioss requires 32 HBT cells, not 16, for it to be fully fuelled. The 32 HBT cells
(8 4-paks) can power the TREAD for 10 days moderate flight time. Combat in Armo-Soldier
mode will not drain the cells that much faster, however ONE orbital escape flight will
drain well over 3/4 of the cells level.
The cockpit can only fit one person: the pilot. However, there is an access hatch between the
passenger compartment & the cockpit (as used by Rey in episode #23) Note that the
passenger compartment (Which could also be used to cart around a small amount of cargo)
is actually separate from the bomb bay, which can be clearly seen is actually a part of the
walls of the passenger area. The TREAD is equipped with a rope ladder for picking up passengers.
When combined only an Legioss pilot is needed.
More information can be found on the AB-01 Tread Armo-Bomber

EU-14 TRI-BARREL 80mm GATLING BEAM GUN:
The primary Armo-Bomber weapon of the Tread, the EP-14 is a internal mounted version of the EP-13 carried by the Legioss. Can fire 170
rounds per minute in full automatic mode, also capable of firing all three barrels
simultaneously in semiautomatic mode at approximately one shot per second. This
weapon fires 2.4 MJ pulses per barrel in each mode, drawing power from the Tread's main
engines. The gun is mounted internally in the fuselage intake beneath the cockpit.
The center gun is not available when the Legioss and Tread are joined.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Mecha
- RANGE: 1200 m
- DAMAGE: 2D4 for each Single blast, 1D4x10 for each triple blast, 1D6x10 for each
medium burst (up to six times per melee), or 3D4x10 for each full melee burst.
- RATE OF FIRE: Single shots or bursts equal to the combined attacks of the pilot.
- PAYLOAD: Unlimited.
TWO EP-4 SINGLE-BARREL BEAM GUNS:
The EP-4 is
capable of firing particle beams every second and is powered by the aircraft's
energizers. The two guns are mounted internally in the intakes of the leg-mounted main
engines. These weapons can only fire in fighter mode and are usually fired in uinsion with the EU-14
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault

Multiple Ejection Rack) on each inner hardpoint, seven on each middile and six on each
outer hardpoint, for a total of up to forty-two medium range missiles.
- LONG RANGE MISSILES: Each hardpoint can carry one long range missile.
- CBM-200 cluster missiles: Each hardpoint can carry one. Two hundred guided
cluster bombs with a range of 500 meters mounted on a long range missile. Cusomized
for anti-mecha operations both in space and on the ground. Maximum delta-v in space
is 3.5 kps. (1d6*10 MDC to every mecha in 500 meter blast radius)
- JAMMER PODS:
- CHAFF AND FLARE DISPENSER PODS: Each pod can carry up to 20 chaff or 20 flares.
WEAPONS/BOMB BAY:
The Tread can carry a nominal load of 4,000 kg of
ordnance; however up to 8,000 kg may be loaded, doubling the existing combat load.

- 4 x 1000 KG ARMOR PIERCING SELF-GUIDED GLIDE BOMBS:
HAND TO HAND COMBAT:
If necessary, the Tread can engage in melee combat rather
than use a weapon. Despite the limited movement of the Tread's hands, the AB-01 can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as
punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc. DAMAGE:
- Punch in Armo-Soldier: 1D6*3
- Punch in Armo-Diver: 1D4*3
- Kick: 1D6*3
- Leap Kick: 2D6*3
- Body Flip/Throw: 1D6*3
- Body Block/Tackle: 1D6*3
- Stomp: 1D4*3 . (only effective against small objects)
STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE AB-01 TREAD:
- AUTO-PILOT: The AB-01 is equipped with a computerized auto-pilot, allowing the
pilot to relax or even sleep during long voyages. The auto- pilot can be programmed with a
single destination or a complex flight plan involving multiple speeds, directions, and
destinations. The onboard computer will alert the pilot when the fighter is near its
destination, and can also be set to automatically signal when sensors detect objects near
the mecha. The auto-pilot was designed with long intra-system space journeys in mind.
- COMBAT COMPUTER: The combat computer tracks and identifies specific enemy
targets, and has a database of over 10,000 images stored in memory. The computer can
identify and track up to 250 targets simultaneously.
- FUEL CAPACITY: The Tread runs off 32 HBT cells (8 4-Paks). This will fuel the Tread for 250 hours (10 days) flight time. Combat in Armo-Soldier Mode will not increase the fuel useage above that of the other modes, though one orbital escape flight will drain well over 3/4's of the cell level.
- EXTERNAL AUDIO PICKUP: Range: 300 ft (91.5 m). A sound amplification system that
can pick up normal conversation up to 300 feet away.
- HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life
threatening head and radiation. A radiation detection and alarm system are linked with the
shields and will sound an alarm if there is a rupture in the shields and what the levels
of radiation are.
- HOMING SIGNAL: The escape pod of the AB-01 is equipped with a homing
device that enables rescue teams to locate a disabled craft or ejected life pod. The range
of the signal is 400 miles (640 km). Most Mars Base ships and veritecs can locate and track a
homing signal, and the onboard computers will automatically notify their pilots if such a
signal is detected.
- LOUDSPEAKER: A loudspeaker system is built into the craft, which can be used to
amplify the pilot's voice up to 90 decibels.
- RADIO/VIDEO COMMUNICATION: Long range, directional communications system with
satellite relay capabilities. Range: 600 miles (960 km) or can be boosted indefinitely via
satellite relay.
- SELF-DESTRUCT: To prevent capture of an advance variable fighter by the enemy,
the pilot can activate the AB-01 self-destruct system, which will cause the fighter
to explode after a delay of up to 60 minutes (time is set by the pilot). The explosive
damage is contained within a 20 foot (6 m) area and inflicts 1D6x10 M.D. to everything
within the radius of the explosion. All internal systems are obliterated. The escape pod
will be automatically ejected prior to the explosion unless the pilot overrides the
ejection sequence. As the Inbit rarely capture human mecha, this is used more as a spoilsport tactic if the pilot is forced down by bandits
- STANDARD SURVIVAL KIT: All Mars Base mecha come equipped with a portable survival
kit. Inside the small reinforced box is a medium-sized flashlight, two hand flares, one
rocket flare, a compass, infrared distancing binoculars, a small mirror, a pocket knife,
dehydrated and concentrated food (can be stretched into a five day supply for one person)
and basic first aid items (aspirin, bandages, disinfectants, etc.) This box can be attached to the rear of a Ride Armor.
- TACTICAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM: The AB-01 cockpit is pressurized, and also provides
additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized
breathing. The CVR-3 also contains an upper and lower g-suit that promotes blood
circulation even during high-g turns, thus decreasing the possibility of pilot's blacking
out in combat.
COMBAT BONUSES FOR OFFICAL AB-01 TREAD ARMO-BOMBER TRAINING:
- 3 attacks per melee (plus those of the pilot).
- Add one additional action/attack at levels seven and thirteen.
- +1 to strike
- +3 to parry
- +2 to dodge in armo-solder and armo-diver, +4 in armo-bomber mode.
