Who is.................Cyclone?

Who is Cyclone?
Cyclone...in Super Deformed Anime Form Well I'm Cyclone^_^

Not that! Who is Cyclone REALLY?
Oh! You thought it was one of those who am I pages! Ok here's the info on me:

Name: Adam Kath
Age: 22.
Gender: Male.
Occupation: Network Engineering Student
Handle: Cyclone(DUH), also sometimes called: Cyc, Cyke, Mospeada Madman.
Planet, Country, State, Town: Earth(or Dirt), Australia, Queensland, Ipswich.
E-mail address: cyclonekath@geocities.com
Web Address: http://www.powerup.com.au/~kath/gcm/

That's what I wanted. Can I ask you other things?
Shoot.

Do you like anything else apart from Robotech and Mospeada?
Yes. I like: Anime, making anime models, reading, sci-fi shows and movies (Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf) comedy shows (Fast Show, South Park, The Simpsons, all versions of Full Frontal, the australian The Late Show) Role Playing Games (Robotech, Battletech, Shadowrun, Heavy Gear, Mekkon Zeta) Mecha of virtually any type and any show/comic/model, Comic books/Mangas (often RAW), drawing, toys, Final Fantasy(any), fighting games (Street Fighter series, Virtua Fighter series, Tekken series, Fatal Fury/King of the Fighters series) and lots of stuff I can't remember right now.

You said you like Anime, what series
Genesis Climber MOSPEADA(basicly my all time favorite), Vision of Escaflowne, Rurouni Kenshin, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Ghost in the Shell, Gundam 08th MS Team, Neo Genesis Evangelion, Project A-Ko, Dragon Ball Z, and many others. I usually draw the line at shoujo and magical girl shows, but will probably watch them at least once (bitching and moaning all the way through)

I thought you hated Macross? But you just said like Macross Plus and 7???
I DO hate Macross(the series not the guy). The characters get on my nerves, seem one demesional and the mecha look crap. The only things I liked were the ships(SDF-1 and the Zentraedi ships)
Macross II was even worse. Hibiki seemed to me to be a combination of Rick/Hikaru and Minmei/Minmay in one body. The UN Spacy mecha looked worse and the story sucked even more. I did however like the Macross Cannons and the idea of the refited Zent ships. The Macross II RPG from Palladium Books is probably the one thing I like about this series (yes, even though the mecha and ships are heavily flawed)
Macross Plus just seemed SO good. The mecha looked good, the characters made sense and the story did too. The YF-19 is one of the best looking mecha I've seen, Isamu the best pilot, and Sharron Apple the best singer.
Macross 7 is a great series(once you get over the music as a weapon idea) The characters seem more alive than in Macross, apart from Basara............after the first episode, how I hated him! Fire Bomber is okay....but, not my kind of music. My only complaint with the mecha is the VF-19. I'm ok with the new shoulders, I'm ok with the new legs, I'm ok with the head, but why did they have to change the wings!!!!!!!! I hate the VF-19F/S wing design and the VF-19A/Kai is little better! Why, oh why did they change that!!

What's your robotech affiliation? Puritst? McKinneyist?
I am a Purist with Universist leanings.

Have you even read the novels?
Yes I have. I even respect the views of those who like them(Just ask Macross and Beta), but I don't respect those who force others believe in them because they do(Just ask Macross and Beta).

What do you hate about the novels?
Most of all the Thinking Caps, The Shappings and the Five year Fold. The TCs are stupid and un-needed. The Shappings and Five year fold make no sense. As one who loves and understands the original series, I can't see that Robotech needs these things when the originals from which it was spawned didn't

Is DoZ the great place you make it out to be?
Yes, Max(the owner) is slowly getting DoZ back on it's feet after a long peroid of inactivity. The old DoZ MB was all these things I've talked about and more. However a couple of fools wrecked it for the rest of us. The Robotech Message Board set up by Beta has pretty much the same feel, but many of the newbie CN watching fans have the same sort of views those of the destroyers of the DoZ MB...........

Why do you seem to think so poorly of the new Cartoon Network watching Robotech Fans?
Well they think so poorly of us ^_^ Many of these newbies don't know their way around Robotech's internet fandom, I don't hold a grudge for that as nobody can know everything about everybody or ever will, but so many believe that before they arrived that Robotech and Robotech fans never existed. I most hate CN not showing New Generation, not because I want to see it (I've got it taped) but because every post from them seems to be the same subjects over and over with title like "Wah! Robotech: Crystal Dreams isn't going to be finished!" "Wah!! Why won't people give me New Gen!"

You have New Gen taped!!! Make me Copies!! I'll pay for you to copy it!!!!
No, No, NO! I'm not being mean and petty, here are a couple of reasons why: 1) My tapes are in PAL TV format, incompatiable with the NTSC TV format used by the US (the location of most of the people asking) and you'd have to convert them, 2) I'm in Australia, the postage would jump the price up. Basicly it would be cheaper if you found somebody over there, 3) I get email after email each week from people asking me if I can make copies, I'm not willing and don't have the time to do it for ONE person, let alone about twelve different people each week.

Why did you even put up your Mospeada Toy and Model pages if you aren't selling the stuff on them??
I made the pages to inform people of what the things look like, so they don't get cheated by people using others lack of knowlege to sell things that the person wouldn't be happy buying because it wasn't what they were thinking it was. I've heard many horror stories about people spending big bucks($80-120 and up!) for what was listed as a Gakken Alpha Fighter thinking that the person ment the larger version and getting the smaller version (not worth more than $40 bucks)

Okay, so your not selling New Gen videos, toys or models personally. Any place that you use to get this stuff? Online auctions or online stores?
As Mospeada/Robotech New Gen isn't a recent series, most online shops lack anything Mospeada, so I usually buy stuff on a personal basis from people. While the prices can often become insane, places like Ebay are also a good bet. Model wise I say try Hobby Link Japan. Their fairly quick, fairly cheap and have a good range. Also in most cases they have scans of most of the models available which makes it worth visting even if you have not the money or desire to build models.

Boy, you do take your time between Updates. Why so slow?
Well, before I was studying and could devote little of my spare time to the up keep of this site. Things look like improving slightly, but still don't expect day by day improvements.

Ever thought about putting up avi's of New Gen or Mospeada? How about Mp3's of the soundtracks?
YIPE! Apart from the legal questions, I just don't have the webspace. Just putting up the first two CD's would require twice as much web space as this site takes up already. I might consider it, but the magic eight ball says "Chances are poor".

Come on! Make me copies of the series! I need this! Please!
No. I can not be swayed on this. No I'm not being petty, but if I do it for one person, others will complain that I won't do it for them. Best way is to politely decline everybody.

How come it took you so long to put up a page with all the scenes cut from Mospeada? I would of thought that'd be the first thing you'd do.
A number of reasons, the most major was I wanted to backup the bare basic text with pictures of the cut scenes. I don't have easy access to video capture equipment so I had to put it on the back burner. I recently bought the VCD set, which skipped the problem of getting the video into the computer, meaning I just had to get screen captures. Sure the quality isn't great, but I decided it'll have to do for the moment. Expect better versions when I get my hands on the Mospeada DVDs ^_^

How come the Mospeada model and toy pages are down so much?
Disadvantage of having the site split between multiple locations I'm afraid. I'm just a lone guy using personal and free web space and while my ISP is usually up, there isn't enough room for the large toy and model images which get stored elsewhere

If you have any other questions for me, e-mail them in and I'll put them up here.
