NEW AND REVISED EQUIPMENT FOR
THE GCM RPG CONVERSION
CVR-3M, CVR-3F Ride Armor Compatable Combat Armor
The CVR-3 combat armor is standard for all frontline combat troops and is the new generation of Mars Base combat armor. It was developed to offer inproved protection over the earlier CVR-2 and to be compatible with the new Ride Armor mecha.
The most notable feature is the armored telescoping boots, which form the lower legs
of the mecha in Armor mode. They were designed to increase the pilot's stride in and
to attach to the Ride Armor's frame and servos, removing the need for the pilot to support
the heavy weapons system with his own strength. The CVR-3M is standard issue for male
soliders and features sturdier leg servos to support the heavier VR-040 and VR-052 Ride Armors.
The CVR-3F female version features less servo support as less is needed with the lighter VR-038
Bartley Ride Armor.
The CVR-3 armor can stop most small arms and rifle fire, and moderate protection against
higher caliber projectile fragments and low-intensity energy attacks. Vulnerable areas
of the armor are the upper arms and a small part of the abdomen and back which are protected by
a balistic under shirt. The armor consists of a light helmet, a breastplate with shoulder
guards, forearm guards, a groin harness, light thigh armor, and heavy leg armor.

The CVR-3 armor have the following features:
- Helmet Filter and Independent Oxygen supply, 30 minutes maximum with filter
and 5 minutes with internal Oxygen alone. The CVR helmet is normally
unsealed, but when a seal is desired (or pressure drops suddenly)
an inflatable ring at the base of the helmet expands, making an emergancy seal
around the pilot's neck.
- Helmet with variable-tint polarized polycarbon faceplate.
- Radio microphone and speakers in the helmet
Optional Equipment:
- Utility belt that connects to the Ride Armor mounting points
on the groin harness; must be broken away before
transformation to Armor mode can occur.
- Tool Belt which is almost identical to the Utility belt except it holds most hand
held tool mecha techs require for mecha maintence
- EVA equipment which consists of a enviroment suit worn under the CVR armor and
enviroment supply backpack which clips into the two Ride Armor connection points of the breastplate
and provides a total of 6 hours of oxygen.
- Type: Hard Armor/Space Suit
- Weight: 9.6 kg
The CVR-3 Ride Armor compatable combat body armor owes much to the earlier CVR-2.
For the most part the CVR-2 looks like a more rounded version of the CVR-3, featuring the same
combination of hard and soft armor. The CVR-2 lacks the Ride Armor connection points of the later
armor, features a more familar fighter pilot style of helmet unlike the clam shell visorof the CVR-3 and can stand less abuse in the field.
The CVR-2 was originally a armored combat version of the standard spacesuit, and the pressure suit that is optional on the CVR-3 is a intergal part of the CVR-2
The CVR-2 has all but disapeared from the battlefield with the proliferation of Ride Armor units among
all sections of the Mars Base military. CVR-2 armor can still be found in limited use with resistance groups.

The CVR-2 armor has the following features:
- Helmet filter and independent Oxygen supply, 30 minutes maximum with filter
and 5 minutes with internal Oxygen alone. The CVR-2 helmet was original designed
to make a totally air tight seal with the armor's undersuit. This is to provide protection for a pilot or trooper against
sudden depressurization in combat and EVA on a moments notice.
- Enviroment Supply backpack, which connects with the CVR-2 and can provide a total of six hours of oxygen.
- Helmet with variable-tint polarized polycarbon faceplate.
- Radio microphone and speakers in the helmet
Destroying a location will open the wearer up to phyical harm/injury. However, the limbs
and head may only be hit on a "called shot", and then at a -3 to strike. The armour
weighs a total of 9 kilos, including helmet.
