VR-38LT BARTLEY Ride Armor
(Fuke Type)
As Mars Base realised the need to give infantry troops the heavy weapon, armor and manverability to fight against the Inbit mecha. The most promising concept was that of the combination Armor Bike/Ride Armor, a high speed motorcycle with transformed in batte armor. Women in the Mars Base military are rarely seen in front line combat roles, and the small number which were often felt they needed to prove something and were highly skilled, making them perfect for the first mass produced model of the then experimental Bartleys. Featuring light armor but faster speed than it's later brothers, the Bartley proved to be a big success and every female front line soldier was instructed in their use and received one in short order. The Bartley's main weapon was the RL-6, a heavy hand-held rocket launcher which attached to the forearm plate
but could also be used by a normal human.
The Bartley served as the basis for the later VR-52 for male soldiers. Due to the limited numbers of females serving on the front lines, Bartley are only as common as the more expensive Blowsperior. The Bartley can use any of the other forearm plate weapons developed for the other Ride Armors, but it's common to see it using the RL-6

Performance:
- Speed, Ride mode : 336kph max., 128kph typical cruising speed
- Speed, Armor mode (running): Approximately equal to that of the pilot.
- Speed, Armor mode (flying) : 288 kph at up to 61m, hover at 9.1m
- Fuel supply : 100 hours operational use, on one standard fuel cell
Personal Combat Armor:
To use the Bartley Ride Armor, the pilot must be wearing a suit of CVR-3F body armor, to which the Armor Bike attaches to in Ride Armor mode. The transformation will not work without the CVR armor. The Bartley is designed to fit the shape of the female version of the CVR-3 combat armor.
Weapon Systems
Internal:
The VR-38 Bartley model has no internal armament.
External:
RL-6 The RL-6 a hand-held rocket launcher that fires the same Recluse projectiles as the VR-40H's GR-103. It has a six missile payload. Weapon is fully usable without the Ride Armor, but must be fired without benefit of the uplink to the mecha's targeting system. Weapon mounts to the interior of the right forearm plate (front wheel cover) in Ride Armor form, and on the right shoulder hardpoint in Armor Bike mode.
Hand-held:
The pilot may use a hand-held weapon in their left hand though better aim with the RL-6 is often gained by using both hands. The most typical weapon carried is the Mars Gallant H90 in rifle mode.
Armor:
While the best defensive feature the Ride Armor has is its amazing agility and maneuverability, they are constructed from advanced ceramics and alloys, and will stop all human small arms and rifle fire. The Ride Armors provide excellent protection for a personal armor against heavier weapons as well as against many anti-infantry energy weapons. A Ride Armor can sometimes withstand two or more blasts from Inbit plasma guns, and the armor holds even under fire from the Gamo's heat cannons for limited amounts of time. Vulnerable areas of the pilot are part of the upper arms; thighs and helmet are not protected by the Ride Armor, but are covered by the CVR-3 armor. The Bartley has less armor than the others, but it still provides good protection, and offers slightly improved maneuverability.
