Science Stackmaker
for all Macs

This software helps science students and teachers who wish to create Mac software using Hypercard. It assumes you are a beginner at creating software, knowing next-to-nothing about Hypercard, and gives extensive on-screen help. You could use it to

  • Present the results of a class assignment on-screen, with text, tables and simple illustrations.
  • Create software to form part of a classroom activity
  • Set up a simple database.

The final software you create will work on a network. The basic background is blank with arrows to go from one screen to the next, as if the user were turning over pages. An extensive collection of science-oriented clip art is provided. The clip art is bitmapped so you can use Hypercard's painting tools to modify it as you lay out your material. The software will work from floppy disks.

The software is not intended for printing although a final assignment could be printed out for checking. Because the size of the background is 512x342 only, and all material provided is black and white, the software is particularly suitable for small-screen Macs. A notebook and table facility assist with creation of material. Those who know next-to-nothing about Hypercard will find lots of help on-screen and in the manual which accompanies the software.

Macintosh system requirements: System 6 or later,1Mb Ram, Hypercard 2.

If you are a teacher and you wish to create on-screen tests with one question per page, this software is an easy-to-use tool. Extra instructions are provided which will help you to create multiple-choice tests with answer buttons, self-checking tests, etc., and even add colour to the final software. Students working on a network can save their assignments on low-density floppy disks.
