My Storytelling
- Performances,
- Workshops,
- Projects and
- Special Events.
Performance
My standard storytelling performance for preschools, schools, libraries, and community venues:
- is 45 to 60 minutes long
- contains 3 or 4 stories suitable to the age group and interests of the audience
- is energetic and
- encourages audience participation.
My repertoire is diverse and from around the world. It includes traditional and contemporary stories, folk tales, family, personal and improvised stories.
My prices are reasonable and flexible and can be adjusted to fit in with the type of audience and venue.
Workshops
I run a variety of workshops including:
- The Gift of Stories - a series of workshops for primary and secondary students with an emphasis on developing oral expression and creativity and on learning traditional storytelling skills.
- Bringing Stories Alive - a workshop for adults (especially teachers, students, librarians, child care workers, parents).
- Creating and Publishing Stories - a workshop series or project for adults, secondary and upper primary students. Participants create or retell stories and then illustrate and publish them in a range of ways.
- Comprehensive Storytelling Course - a course for beginners (or refresher) 1 night per week for 5 weeks .
- Tell Me a Story (before you go to bed) - a course for parents and carers, three 2hr workshops
Storytelling Publishing Projects
a special service for schools and community groups including:
- facilitating the creation, telling and development of student's own stories
- developing expression, creativity and cooperativeness
- illustrative techniques
- publishing stories 'in school', 'on the Web', or commercially
I've worked collaboratively with a number of professional visual artists to offer this service.

Experience
I've been storytelling with children and adults in kindergartens, preschools, schools,
libraries, vacation centres, festivals and community venues in Queensland and New South Wales for over eight years
now. I've taken an active interest in promoting storytelling and am currently a member of the Queensland Storytelling Guild.
I've had the pleasure of running workshops not just in schools but as inservice training for teachers, librarians
and child care workers. Such organisations as The Creche and Kindergarten Association, The School Libraries Association of Queensland,
and the Kindergarten Union have invited me to run workshops at their major conferences.
Increasingly I have been employed to facilitate personal and community development and community arts projects in Brisbane
with a variety of community and special needs groups.
