Since 1994 I've been developing ways of reaching out to work with
other artists and other mediums. Each successful project in the
city or outback has shown how powerful this can be. I can now
suggest a number of different artists whose skills compliment
my storytelling and story-creation skills and processes.

Narelle is a well known children's book author/illustrator ('Leaf
Tail', 'High Above the Sea', 'The Best Beak in Boonaroo Bay',
'The Hunt' and 'Sand Swimmers). She has been shortlisted three
times now in the Children's Book Council Awards and won the Picture
Book Award in 1996. Narelle offers workshops to schools in which
she presents the principles of efficient illustration and the
magic of the linocut medium, assisting students to create linocut
illustrations for their own or fellow student's stories.
Working together we are able to bring students a full story
creation, writing, illustration and publishing experience. The
boost in self esteem, communication skills and creativity is obvious.
Most stories have been published internally in hard copy or world
wide web forms. Commercial publication is possible however. 'Goanna
Jumps High', created in a project in Urandangi, has been recently
published by Magabala Books
For schools and organisations a Story Publishing Project allows
for:
- empowerment and acknowledgement of participants' creativity;
- creating an identity for groups and individuals;
- development of skills in using narrative structure;
- creative development of oral, literary, and visual arts skills
for participants;
- development of participant's infotech skills;
- cooperative online interaction with other projects both locally
and globally through the publication Web site and email;
- ongoing development of the Website as either an Internet
or Intranet site;
- allows for many cross curriculum and extension possibilities
- fundraising possibilities through sale of hardcopy publications,
prints, CD's, calendars etc.

- School
- Can you see in 3G - Green, Grey
or Ghastly? is the latest school publishing project from
Regents Park and the surrounding cluster of state primary schools.
- The For Green Eyes Only
web site was published in 1999 and was the result of the Literary
Day of Excellence on Environment Day at Regents Park State School.
- The Fortitude
Valley State School Electronic Storytelling Publishing Project
can now be viewed online. You can read about how we went about
working with students and developing the pages as well.
- The Thornlands State School Sharp Point Publishing
Project is an excellent example of a school project involving
developing the skills of student authors and illustrators and
publishing their stories with fellow students as characters and
local Thornlands settings on the new school Web site.
- Robertson State School, Extended Learning
Program, September 1998, is the work of 12 student authors taking
part in this three day vacation school creativity and publishing
project.
- Community
- Brisbane
Stories is an exciting city wide project initiated by the Brisbane City Council. 'Crossing Boundaries' is an exploration of the changing and diverse cultural experiences of West End from before colonial occupation to the present multicultural society. I was commissioned to collect and create a range of stories from and about West End residents and worked with Vanessa Fisher and Marie Biggens to publish these on the Brisbane Stories site.

A specific project for particular outcomes can be designed for
your school or your class.
- Stories can have a particular focus eg 'family' or 'the local
environment' or 'the children's own lives' etc.
- They can be focussed around a particular genre - eg anecdotes,
folktales, tall stories etc or have a broad approach.
- The project can aim for publication in a range of forms eg
published 'in school', externally, commercially, internet, multimedia
etc depending on project goals and budget.
Costing is usually based on a per day charge of approx. $400.00
per artist. Quotes can be provided for general publishing or narrative
workshops or for specific web publishing sites or pages. For more
