Learning Disability
In England 'Learning Disability'
is the term used for intellectual
impairment; in America, it's a separate diagnosis that refers to
learning problems not
involving intellectual impairment. For one thing, this shows the
fuzziness and confusion that surrounds all definitions in this area;
for another, it shows that Americans and English don't read each
other's journals much. In any case, DEAL doesn't go much by
diagnoses; if you have severe communication impairment, we'll see you.
