Shin Guards

I think out of all the diagrams this was the hardest to do, because most photos that I used for reference where very difficult to see. There is a fair bit of detail in these so I'm certainly not claiming that these are accurate. The illustration isn't finished yet so treat it as a work in progress.
To get basic measurements (I have to start explaining this now so as not to offend anyone) I measured the around my ankle and then around my calf muscle. The diameter was then divided in two. Then the length between my ankle and knee was taken. Then added the extra 5 or so centimetres for the top. Using some geometry and Pythagorean theorem, I've come up with a template that you could use. I urge you to take your own measurements though. The grey lines indicate indents, the black areas indicate raised sections.
The top of the shin guard (where the black dots are) should sit under your kneecap.
I cut the template out onto industrial strength lino, screwed some quad down the sides for strength and stuck some straps onto the top and bottom of each shin guard.
I stuck the straps on by placing the strap between the wooden quad and the lino, then placing a screw through it all.
Admittedly it is cheap but it's effective enough for a quick pair of shin guards.
I freely admit that these are the shonkiest pair of shin guards I've seen, however they've cost me nothing so far and are a very easy to make.
The detail at the top of each shin guard is fairly easy to do. I just cut it all out on placemats then stuck it together with shoe glue.
Shoe Glue is good to use as it's flexible. So once I've stuck it on, I can bend it into shape without fear of the edges coming apart and lifting up.
The details didn't come up as well as I'd hoped, however even with just the undercoat on they don't look half bad. After I've given them a few coats of gloss black paint they should be OK.
Here are the shin guards with the first coat of gloss black paint on.
