This set of magazine inserts shows portraits of leading VFL footballs titled Prominent Players. They are black and white photos overprinted with team colour uniforms as was the method of the time. Only one instance is known at this time and that is No. 8 Haydn Bunton. |

The series must have been issued in two batches since cards 1 - 40 read "40 Prominent Footballers to the Set" at the base of the back and cards 41 - 80 read "80 Prominent Footballers to the Set". Cards 41 - 80 also show the players name and team on the front of the card. |

The first 72 cards have identical fronts to those in the Turf Football Personalities series. The last 72 are more rare than the first 72. Card Number 120 was issued twice, both reading S.Baker but showing different photos. |

This series of round lapel pins was issued by the Australian Licorice Company who were also
the issuer of the Giant Brand Licorice card sets.
They show club colours for the 12 VFL teams of the era in a circle with a
white arm with the club name in black lettering on the arm. The presence of
the Nth Melb stripes and the St Kilda shield would
suggest these were issued in approx 1932/33. |

This rather large card shows a black and white head and shoulder
portrait image of Ron Hillis from Sth Melbourne. The card has a gold name panel at the
bottom and the words Capstan embossed in gold diagonally across his
shoulders. The photo is the same one that appears on other Wills cigarette
cards. It's quite possible that other player photos exist in this set but no
others have been seen to date. |
