924 Carrera GT

 

924DP SCCA Racer (933) 1979

A 924 based SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) with M471 suspension and braking package and the 924's N/A engine with capacity slightly increased to 2039cc. Only 16 were built in Stuttgart.

924 Carrera GT Le Mans 1979-1980

1979: 3 prototype 924 Carrera GT's were built for the 1979 Frankfurt show based on the SCCA racers but having a Turbo charged 2.0L engine and wide polyurethane front fenders and rear wheel arches.

1980: 4 prototype racers were built and 3 of them raced in the 1980 Le Mans.

924 Carrera GT (937) 19xx

This was the road version of the Carrera GT. 406 were built (6 for factory development + 400 general production) and they were only made in Guards Red, Diamond Silver or Black. Only 75 of the production were 938 RHD models and 200 LHD (937) models were sold to the local German market, the remaining LHD production sold to various European markets. None were sold to the USA market.

924 Carrera GT (938) 19xx

938 was the factory designation for the Right Hand Drive Carrara GT.

924 Carrera GTR 19xx

This was an evolution of the 1980 Le Mans model and was a customer racing version. Only 17 were built by Weissach. A 375bhp race version and 280bph rally version produced.

924 Carrera GTS 19xx

This was a 245bhp evolution of Carrera GT 937/938 road car. They had fixed plexiglass headlights, the slotted nose panel from the 924 Turbo. Only 59 were produced, all LHD and 50 of them were Guards Red.

924 Carrera GTP (1981 Le Mans) 1981

6 factory 924 development vehicles were produced. Of these 6, chassis 001~004 were the 1980 Le Mans racers. Chassis 005 and 006 were fitted with the prototype 420bhp "944 Le Mans" 2479cc 16 valve Turbo balance shaft engine. Chassis 005 was used for factory development and chassis 006 raced in the 1981 Le Mans. Only 12 of the 420bhp "944 Le Mans" engines were produced.
