Victoria
is the southern most state on mainland Australia

From
Melbourne the coastline stretches both East and West

My family and I have previously been to Wilsons
Promontory, on the East Coast, and taken many photos. That produced some
great shots but the West coast between Geelong
and Warrnambool, travelling along The Great Ocean Road is spectacular. Most
of that coastline is known as The Shipwreck Coast. It is a harsh and rugged
coastline that claimed many lives in the early days of the colony. Even
today it is a treacherous stretch of coast.
We travelled from Melbourne
to Geelong along the main Highway
and then turned off onto The Great Ocean Road just after Geelong.
This is a road that is narrow and winding but has some spectacular views.
It took us most of the day to get to Port Campbell because we stopped at
numerous points on our trip. There are some great towns along the way such
as Torquay, Aireys Inlet, Lorne and Apollo
Bay just to name a few.
If you are not from Victoria,
and you are planning to visit some time don’t miss this trip it is worth
the effort. If you live in Victoria
and have never done this trip, do it as soon as you can, you will not be
disappointed.
I don’t want to ramble on too much so I’ll let the photos do the talking.
And finally let me say that if you look at the map of Victoria
you will see that Warrnambool is just over half way to the boarder of South
Australia. That means we still have a long way to
go before we finish with the South West coast of
Victoria. We plan to make
another trip soon to finish this off. So check back from time to time and
see our new photos.
Enjoy the photos
