Gathering to run the race of end time Gospel

From: D&V List No.1321

Dream on 17 November, 2008

Background:
On the phone last night I discussed my dreams in last D&V List No.1320 with Peter
Taylor. I felt that I may have missed the meaning of the dreams that had clear spiritual
vocabulary. We concluded that this was so and I asked him to provide an alternate
interpretation for the List.

Dream:
I was talking with two ladies manning a canteen at an athletic ground and recreation area.
The athletic meet had concluded and a few men were gathering at the starting area for an
impromptu race; apparently this race was open to anyone that wanted to run.

** The canteen in the athletic ground pertains to teaching within Christendom. The
official athletic meet portrayed preaching of the Gospel in main line Christendom. The
impromptu race that is open to anyone represents preaching of the Gospel that is not of
flesh and blood. It is therefore of the direct teaching and leading of the Spirit and it is
available to all Christians.

I figured that I was fit enough to run despite my age. I had done some running in my
normal daily exercise routine. There was some hesitation at first but as more men
gathered I felt compelled to join them.

** The desire to be directly taught and led of the Spirit and thereby do the will of God is
causing interested folks to gather. This is compelling me and others to want to gather and
run the race of preaching and living the Gospel for the end times in which we live. This
will be a spiritual movement starting outside of official or mainline Christendom.

I walked over to the starting area but we were not lined up at a starting line. Rather, there
was a group at the front and there was a sprinkle of men along the track in the starting
area. Even though I was standing some distance behind the pack I felt that I could catch
up to them and run a strong race.

We seemed to be anticipating a starting gun to sound. Ultimately it seemed that there was
not going to be a starting gun and every one seemed to be waiting for someone to start
running. There was much hesitation and uncertainty as we went through several false
starts. Since I was at the back of the pack I started running with certainty and this
signalled the start of the race. Having already built up momentum, I caught up quickly to
the pack and was soon striding out comfortably.

** There is no starting line, nor a starting gun. That is. Folks can come and be partakers
at any time as the divine Teacher is within each believer.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:
and he will show you things to come.

1Jo 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need
not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and
is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
1Jo 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may
have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

We were racing to one length of the ground and back and I finished towards the front. I
felt good about being involved in the impromptu race that was not part of the official
athletic meet.

** This dream appears to be highlighting a race (preaching of the Gospel) that is not in
the program of main line Christendom (not of the official athletic meet). It is not
organized by flesh and blood because it is of the direct teaching and leading of the Spirit.
Of such was the exemplary race of the Apostle Paul in the following companion
scripture:

1Co 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid
upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
1Co 9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a
dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
1Co 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, WHEN I PREACH THE GOSPEL, I MAY MAKE THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST WITHOUT CHARGE, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
1Co 9:19 FOR THOUGH I BE FREE FROM ALL MEN, YET HAVE I MADE MYSELF SERVANT UNTO ALL, THAT I MIGHT GAIN THE MORE.
1Co 9:20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that
are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
1Co 9:21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God,
but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
1Co 9:22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1Co 9:23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
1Co 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?
So run, that ye may obtain.
1Co 9:25 AND EVERY MAN THAT STRIVETH FOR THE MASTERY IS TEMPERATE IN ALL THINGS. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
1Co 9:26 I THEREFORE SO RUN, NOT AS UNCERTAINLY; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
1Co 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means,
when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
