WILLIAM DALTON

William DALTON and Margaret BENFIELD are my maternal 4th Great Grandparents.

Their daughter, Mary Anne DALTON, is my 3rd Great Grandmother who married George Gardiner WHITEHALL.

DALTON: 'Dalton' derives from the Olde English pre 7th Century "doel" - a "valley" or "dale" and "tun" - a farm or settlement, and was originally given to those who held lands at such a place.
