WILLIAM TOOBY &

SUSANNAH MARY SMITH

William TOOBY and Susannah Mary SMITH are my 2nd Great Grandparents.

Their daughter, Susannah Mary TOOBY, is my Great Grandmother who married William Alfred McLEAN.

TOOBY: Recorded as Tobey, Toby, Toobey, Tooby and possible others, this is an English surname. It is derived from the male personal name Tobias, the Greek form of the Hebrew name Torya, meaning "The Lord is Good". Tobias and its derivatives were introduced into Europe by returning knights and pilgrims from the famous Crusades to the Holy Land in the 12th century.

William was killed being run over by his four wheel wheat wagon on returning home after delivering a load of wheat to Bathurst. The 5 horses and wagon arrived at the home gates but William was nowhere to be found. A few miles towards Bathurst he was found about 8pm lying dead on the road.
