This is a collection fo theories and laws about the universe I have come up with. Some are blindingly obvious, while others will make you think I'm on a heavy dose of acid. They all however follow some form of logic, however twisted. If anyone has a theory they would like to be included here, email me at ekarb@hotmail.com

A method to have a velocity exceeding 300000000m/s

It is accepted that it is impossible to exceed the speed of light, which is generally stated as being 300000000m/s. However this is the speed of light in a vacuum. If light travels through a denser medium, such as water or glass, the speed at which light travels is reduced.
Thus, I propose a method of gaining a velocity in excess of 300000000m/s. If one were to reduce the density of a medium one was travelling through, the speed of light would increase, and so your maximum velocity would increase. And so if one were to reduce the density of a vacuum the speed of light would increase above 300000000m/s and so one could travel faster than 300000000m/s, while still travelling below the speed of light. I am aware that this requires the existance of negative mass, and thus negative energy, but if these difficulties are overcome, then this could be a feasible method of travel if other exotic methods such as wormholes which also require the existance of negative energy prove unfeasible. This method would still require propulsion by normal means and would only reduce the travel time by a small fraction, but a small reduction in the length of a trip lasting approximately 75 years would have a noticable effect on the travel time.
There is a small article in the October 31 1998 New Scientist which describes this theory as originated by Ken Olum. This a case of parrallel creation and I make no claims to it's creation. However let it be noted I came up with this theory before the publication of the October 31 New Scientist.
