Get Started - Quick

While we always try to encourage people to read the manual BEFORE loading the software, we have been around Picture Framers to know that they would rather get going quickly and sort out the finer details later.  So we are going to try and help you see what Frameit can do.

Of course you need to first load the software and start it up.  When Frameit starts the opening Main Menu screen appears.  Select 1. New Frame.

As we move through our screen will resemble the picture below.

Press the <Enter> key  until you get to the screen where the size is input.

This is where you put in the size of the artwork.  Lets say we have a poster that is 500mm x 300mm.  Enter these sizes pressing <Enter> as each is entered.

Next we are asked to input a description.  Type "POSTER OF SAILING SHIP" and press <Enter>.

The full detail screen now appears.  Before we go on, have a quick look at the items listed.  Some may apply to your business and some may not.  That is fine because Frameit lets you change most items to suit you and your business.  So if you don't do say Stretching, you can change that item along with all it's pricing attributes to something else.  How to do this is described in the manual.

Select a frame.  With the word "Frames" highlighted, press <Enter>.  Up to three mouldings or slips can be entered.  Frameit will calculate the sizes of each as each one gets bigger and price the job accordingly.  With the 1st Moulding Id selected <Enter>

A list of your mouldings will now appear.  Select the moulding by using the up or down arrow key and <Enter>.  That moulding and it's cost will be transferred to the main screen.  Until you complete the quote you can go back at any time and change the moulding.  Frameit will instantly re-calculate the cost.

Now go down and press <Enter> on the mounting to be used.  The price is calculated.  You will see in the top right hand box the price adding up along with the tax applicable.

Continue selecting the items required.  On the item marked "Glazings, Mats and Special Items, a new windows will appear to allow from additional selection.  So now we will select a glass.  Highlight Glazings and <Enter>.  Use the arrow keys to select the item and <Enter>.

Notice that the word Glazings has changed to the type of glass selected.  If you want to change the glass to another type, just do it.

Move to the other items and select as required.

When you get to Mats a different type of selection will appear.  You can select multiple items of any of the mats.  Remember that you put in your type of mats so your screen could have different names for the items.

Down the bottom section is where the mat size is entered.  Highlight the "Top" and <Enter>.  Put a size in and when you again press <Enter> the size will be taken for all sides.  If you wish to change say the Bottom size of the mat, highlight Bottom, <Enter> and change it.

Notice that the cost has changed.  This is because the mat now has an outer size.  Also have a look at the size of the job.  What we originally entered as 500mm x 300mm has now increased in size by the width of the mats.

It is now larger because the whole job just got larger.  The cost for every component has changed because everything just got bigger.

Play around with the mouldings, glass and other items.  Anything can be changed and the cost instantly re-calculated.  Change the number of mats and the size.  Everything re-calculates, instantly.
