Inputting Mouldings

A pre-requisite to this is that you have read the section dealing with Individual Moulding prices V's Moulding Categories.  If you have not, please read first as some decisions need to be made.

There are two different ways to enter Mouldings.  The first is to use a Category (1 to 30 as already set up in the Main Pricing items).  The second is to use Individual Prices.

Both start in a similar manner as the choice is not activated until the third option.  So to input a moulding we select Mouldings from the Main Menu and then Edit Moulding Data.  Input the Moulding Id. and then a Moulding Description.

Next we come to the "BIG" decision.  To use a Moulding Category or to Individually price this moulding.  But lets just skip that for a second and look at some of the other questions both methods have in common.

Moulding Size is the width from the rebate to the outside of the moulding.  This is used to calculate the wastage ( 8 times width) and where there is a frame within another frame.

Moulding Bin (optional) is where you may keep that particular moulding within your premises.  Many framers have a rack system and if you number each rack then Frameit can help locate that moulding at a later date (for you or your employee).

Manuf No (optional). While many framers use the Manufacturers code to identify a moulding (this is the Moulding Id and prints out on Quotes etc.) some prefer their own coding system.  If this is the case use your own coding for the Moulding Id and use the manufacturers code for the Manuf No.

Stock, Minimum Stock & Moulding Available - (all optional) see section on Stock and Minimum Stock (not yet done).

Date last used - this is computer generated and you cannot change.

Cost is the price this moulding cost you.

Now Frameit asks if you want to transfer Moulding Details into the Point of Sale (POS) system.  Some framers sell lengths of Moulding to their customers.  This is an easy way for you to put those details into POS. (we will look at this more in the Point of Sale section (I hope once we write it)).

Now we are back to the third option so lets take Categories first as it is simple.  You should have already established our 30 Categories for mouldings.  All you have to do is input the Moulding category that applies to what we want to charge.

Individual Prices are really quite simple also as it uses the Pricing Wizard.  If you want to Individually price a moulding then put a "0" into the Moulding Category. When you complete the other questions the Pricing Wizard will appear.  Complete as described in the section that deals with the Main Pricing.

If an individual price is against an item, the "Example of Frame Price" window will appear against that item.  So it is easy to tell if a Category or Individual price is being used.

And finally, it is also easy to change between the two systems.  Just make sure that if you want an Individual price, you have a Moulding Category of "0".  If you want a Moulding Category then input that Category number.
