ChromaGene™ DNA test for Coat Color in
        Poodles

VetGen, the world's leader in canine genetic testing, has introduced a new DNA test for Poodle Coat Color. DNA testing has identified the genotype associated with cream/white and red/apricot coloring in Poodles. The mutation responsible is at the E locus and typically referred to as 'e' or the restriction allele.

What does this mean to Poodle breeders?

VetGen has discovered that cream, white, red and apricot Poodles have the 'ee' genotype. The ChromaGene™ E   DNA Test for coat color in Poodles will allow breeders to test Poodles that are NOT cream, white, red or apricot to identify whether the 'e' allele is present or not. This test allows Poodle breeders the choice of producing cream, white, red, or apricot Poodles or breeding away from these colors.
