unclear.txt (text revised 1 nov 2004, Names Database=86000 names, unclear photos=16000 names approx) HONOUR BOARDS RSL RESEARCH & PRESERVATION PROJECT Photographs form an integral part of our Project. They are of invaluable assistance in recording and confirming details at each site. They are an essential tool for transcribing names into a table for inclusion into the Database. However, in some cases (such as the adjoining photo), individual names cannot be clearly read, so that a transcription into the Names Database is deferred until more details are obtained, either as a clearer photo, or else as a transcription (or both). Your help is earnestly requested.... A clear photo (or photos if the Board is very large) would be very greatly appreciated. Digital photos can be sent as an email attachment, or mailed as a CD or floppy disc. Transcriptions of names contained on the Honour Board Rolls would be very helpful. Copy each column of names in the same order as they appear in the Honour Board. Handwritten is good. We will then type directly into a spreadsheet for final editing. Typewritten is good. We will then do an OCR scan into the spreadsheet. Names typed directly into a spreadsheet such as MS EXCEL or to a table in MS WORD, are easiest at this end. Your file can be then mailed on a floppy disc, or else sent as an email attachment. Please include the transcriber’s or photographer's name, so that credit can be given. please send research results to :- Ken Goudie, Coordinator, either at: Anzac House, 4 Collins St, Melbourne 3000.
