"Hex" HT System

I always wanted to build some hexagons !! So when the Australian Vifa distributor had a half price sale, I picked up enough drivers to do just that.

I also found some very nice pieces of ply to do the outside with.

As luck would have it, the distributor had some 16ohm versions of the Vifa M13SG, just perfect for mtm fronts and an mtm centre. Wired in parallel they give a nice 8ohm load. They were combined using a simple series x-o to the Vifa D26NC (a neodymium).

As can be seen from the plans , the bottom part of the fronts is used as a mass load, I think I put a bit much in , because I can barely move then !!!

The centre channel actually ended up as a M/mt/M configuration, but the MtM part still uses the same crossover as the fronts, the smaller mid (a Vifa TC08) is wired parallel, as a bandpass filler driver to help with horizontal dispersion of sound. (The TC08 has its own compartment)

The rears use a Vifa M11WH with the D26NC tweeter. There is actually an inner compartment in the shape of a trapezium to get the correct volume for the driver.

The pictures below seem to have some funny angles on the top of the speakers, this is a camera artifact.
