"Pokey" is Gumby's side-kick (as
you all know :-))
In this
case, Pokey is actually my "cheap as I could build something that
will do a real good job" HT system.
Pokey himself uses
10 x Dia-Chi 4" polycones ($12AUD each) and a Vifa BC25SC
neo mini-horn tweeter in a 3-way configuration. The top 6 are level with the TV screen, in
an open back frame, and do all the mids and some bass etc. The
bottom 4 are in a vented cabinet.
Pokey's Rears use 4
of the same drivers, the top 2 are open back again, in an mtm arrangement,
the bottom 2 are in a vented cab as a .5.
Pokey's Bowtie (centre
speaker) is based on Darren K's "Cynasure" design with
progressive bass added from the centre out to minimise lobing difficulties.
The HT system also
has dual 15" heaxgonal cabinet subwoofers.
Although cheap, this
system can get seriously loud and actually has very acceptable sound
quality !!!!!!
