How to get involved

1. If you are an  individual

It’s easy. Just come along to Martin Place any day of the week during office hours, whilst the event is in progress. Bring your most witty placard. Come in the knowledge that you will not be alone and that all the truly thoughtful and compassionate people will be there. Then stay as long as you can afford to. Maybe a whole day.

See list of dates being ‘occupied’ by particular groups. You may choose to be there the same day as your favourite group. (Or there may even be a particular group you would prefer to avoid (!) – remember that the aim is to involve the full spectrum of the peace movement.)

2. If your group wishes to take ownership of a day

Contact the Marrickville Peace Group (marrickvillepeacegroup@yahoo.com.au) and give an indication of which day you would prefer. The Marrickville Peace Group can then get back to you and allocate a day.

Obviously numbers are important and your group should get itself fully mobilised. Some will find it hard to take the time because of work commitments etc.. Your group may wish to organise a relay so that a core of participants is there all day. Some may be willing to take a ‘flex’ day for the purpose.

There are still some logistical details to be settled. For example, ideally, each group should inform the local (The Rocks) police about what it intends doing (standing around with placards, handing out leaflets and talking to people). Details of what to do will be forthcoming. It is intendeded that a meeting of representatives of committed groups will be arranged before the event begins.
