Character Design Guidelines

The campaign uses significantly modified 5th edition Hero System as the game engine: see the Hero System Rules Supplement for details.

All player characters (PCs) begin with 500 character points (CPs) and are required to have 75 points of Complications. Characters with less than 75 points of Complications reduce their total points to match the difference. Bonus CP may be added at the GM's discretion to ensure that a character design balances: however, players must use every second experience point earned to pay off this bonus.

The X-Men require particular skills and abilities of all members, and applicants must complete basic training before being granted provisional status and permitted to go on missions. All X-Men must allocate a minimum of 64 CP as follows:.

• Martial Arts [the default X-Men Fighting Skills package is Martial Punch, Throw, Dodge and Escape] (15 CP)
• +5 Mental Defence (5 CP)
• +2m Running (4 CP)
• Analyse (1 CP)
• Athletics (1 CP)
• Breakfall (1 CP)
• Demolitions (1 CP)
• Paramedic (3 CP)
• Piloting (Airplanes) (1 CP)
• Systems Operation (1 CP)
• Tactics (1 CP)
• Teamwork (3 CP)
• PS: X-Man (1 CP)
• X-Men personal equipment (26 CP)

Characters are not required to pay points for the X-Men aircraft, facilities and scanners.

Joining the X-Men and participating in missions brings certain risks. All PCs have the following Complication:

• Social: X-Man (frequent, mild, great) = 5 pts

When designing Complications for PCs, note that:

• Psych: Opposed to Killing is always of extreme importance
• Psych: Protects Innocents is always of extreme importance
• Social: Mutant is always infrequent, mild, and extreme (5 pts)
