Books & Manuals

Following are a few books that I have found useful. Let me know if you can recommend any more via henley@mpx.com.au

beauty.JPG (107192 bytes) 'She's a Beauty - The Story of The First Holdens' by Don Loffler (1998: Wakefield Press South Australia) deals with the history of the FJ Holden. It details the development of the Holden, from the building of the first experimental cars to its launch. The book is full of interesting photographs, and also includes stories from GMH workers who were on the production line. There is a useful section on understanding compliance plate numbers and also paint specifications.

manual.JPG (176694 bytes)The bible for all FJ restorers is the workshop manual. What more can you say about it. I am led to believed that they are quite scarce, especially ones in good condition.

ownmanual.JPG (110211 bytes) The owners manual. This is the book that was handed out when a new FJ was purchased. I am told that these manuals remained standard, although I have seen two slightly varying versions for the FJ Standard. Originals in good condition also seem scarce. I have no idea what you would be charged for one.
