The Beagle Diary
A
fascinating (perhaps) insight into Streamer's life with and without Mistress
Hellen. The diary is updated frequently.
AUGUST 2003
Sunday 31 August 2003
Had breakfast (yummy) at zeRellies - always a festive event. Cataloged the new CDs
that arrived at 2RRR.
Saturday 30 August 2003
Visited Dilys and Chelsea. We (Chelsea and I) ran around the yard and cavorted like
we didn't have a brain cell between us. Very enjoyable outing.
Friday 29 August 2003
Watched Wallace and Gromit. * Happy Tail Wagging *
The new garbage bin arrived. This is to replace our other one that went walkabout
last week. We had hoped it would return of its own accord, but alas.....so now we have
a lovely bright new one.
Thursday 28 August 2003 * * * STREAMER's BIRTHDAY * * *
Today is my birthday - Mistress Hellen bought me the Wallace and Gromit DVD. She also
made me a special dinner which was delicious. We've never celebrated my birthday like
this before - very special day!
Watched one of the Wallace and *big sigh* GROMIT movies (only one because I had a lot of
other things to do). Lots of happy tail wagging all evening.
Sunday 24 August 2003 (back to top)
Extremely windy weather today - the old 'braw blanket drying day' weather. I venture
outside to do my normal guard duty of the washing line while the newly washed clothes are
hung up - but retreat after my ears go out of control in the high winds. Nothing
quite like being slapped about by your own body parts.
Missus Elizabeth visits and the two of us sit at safety and warmth of Command and Observation
Post One and watch Mistress Hellen play wrestlings with wet towels at the washing
line. The best movie from last night is then produced and we settle for an afternoon of
visual entertainment.
Later: During an online chat with Doctor Apollo, I discover his birthday was last week - 13
August. So I've put in a late entry to my diary to honour the occasion.
Saturday 23 August 2003
Woah, so many new CDs have arrived for me to catalog!!! It's difficult choosing what
will be on my next show.
Michael visits and we gather around the new DVD player and watch movies until a stupidly
late hour. This is a very unusual evening for this household!!!! We are just NOT
used to having the movie thing happening.
Thursday 21 August 2003
Heading off tonight with a group of wonderful friends to see Monsieur Camembert
perform. It has been months since I last saw them. Mark is there with us - he
was the person who introduced Mistress Hellen and myself to this GREAT band a few years
ago. We purchase their latest album and I'll play some on the next show.
Wednesday 20 August 2003 (back to top)
Mark (who is visiting from Brisbane) did the show with me tonight. It was great - he
brought along some of his favourite music on his laptop and did whizz kid things and hooked
it into 2RRR's system - so he could go right to air from the computer! (yes legal copies
thank you for asking)
On the way home Mistress Hellen ran over a witches' hat - very dramatic. I must admit
that I didn't see it coming either - thought it was a blob of paper on the road. The
delay we encountered from stopping to dislodge this object resulted in us seeing our 'Middle
of the Night' gardener for the first time in weeks. He was just emerging from his
driveway, ready and raring to go - armed with a rake - as we passed by!!!
Sunday 17 August 2003
Had an email from someone the other day asking if I had a real name. Well, yes, I do,
it's on my Beagle Registration papers. Not that I usually bother telling anyone what
it is.....but it did inspire Mistress Hellen to get out my papers just for the fun of looking
over them.
What an astonishing discovery - it's my BIRTHDAY on 28 August!!!! We've never taken
any notice of the Exact Date of Birth. Another astonishing thing is that it's exactly
6 months after (or before) Mistress Hellen's!!!
Saturday 16 August 2003
Spent a lot of time at zeRellies today. Watched Missus Elizabeth cut Mistress Hellen's
and Mister Darron's hair.
Practiced my tap dancing on their kitchen floor because it's tiled and makes a lovely
noise. Mistress Hellen and Missus Elizabeth joined in (in normal shoes) while
Mister Darron just stood there shaking his head and making "oh dear" sort of noises.
Wednesday 13 August 2003 * * DOCTOR Apollo's Birthday * *
(Newsflash from 24 August - have just found out that today is/was Doctor Apollo's
Birthday - Happy Birthday to my Favourite Doctor!!!!)
Watched 'Cats and Dogs' - well some of it - once we got the drift of what was going on, we
mostly fast forwarded to bits where the beagle was on screen. This is a very new thing,
this watching movies!!!
I asked if we could get some 'Wallace and Gromit' movies next and Mistress Hellen said she's
going to buy them - yippee - means I can watch them any old time. I think Gromit is
just the most WONDERFUL dog.
Monday 11 August 2003 (back to top)
Watched and gave encouragement to Mistress Hellen while she struggled to get the DVD player
all hooked up and working. She had to get it working because she'd brought home some
movies for us to watch.
Sunday 10 August 2003
It's very strange not having Roxy here - the kitchen looks empty and we've dismantled his
play area in the back room.
Michael and Courtney had reason to be in the area today and dropped by while we were out -
leaving a VERY NICE present for us - a DVD player for the TV!!! Michael says that it's
obvious Mistress Hellen has completely missed the video age, but he's determined to drag her
into the DVD era!
Saturday 9 August 2003 * * * Roxy Departure Day * * *
Well, here we are, Roxy the big-nosed, big-bummed Guinea Pig has been with us since the
beginning of the year and it's time for him to move on - so that Mistress Hellen can
return to a normal life (normal life does not include a box of tissues in each room,
acres of soggy snot receptacles strewn around, cracked ribs from sneezing and rashes from
piggy contact).
Roxy was allowed out to free range graze this morning - and didn't want to be caught
again! This caused much stress in the household as we did have an appointment to
deliver him to
Kismet Rattery for him to be adopted
by someone NOT allergic to him. The recapture operation resulted in small
injuries being sustained by Mistress Hellen and myself. Anything larger than
Roxy just can't crash around in bushes without something stabbing, grazing and bruising it!!
FINALLY we set off to zeRellies with Roxy and all his belongings. Missus Elizabeth
accompanied Mistress H to Kismet Rattery while I stayed behind and generally amused myself
in the backyard.
Friday 8 August 2003 * * * BOYGeoffrey's Birthday * * *
Apart from it being Geoffrey's birthday, nothing much else happened! Rang Geoffrey and
wished him a happy day.
Wednesday 6 August 2003 (back to top)
During the show I discovered I have another listener!!! A big hello to Kev who rang to
have a friendly chat.
Later: Arrangements are being made about delivering Roxy for his new start in life. Roxy
departure day is this coming Saturday.
Monday 4 August 2003
A very important decision was made today - Roxy (the big bummed, big nosed guinea pig) must
be removed from the house. This follows a weekend of dramatic sneezing and undoing of
all recent healing on the cracked rib situation for Mistress Hellen. As you may
remember, she's highly allergic to our favourite furry housebrick but she's been putting
off (or rather - having difficulty with) finding a new home for him.
Last night she sent an email to
Kismet Rattery who have a rescue service
for rats and also deal with re-homing guinea pigs. Today we received a great reply
saying that Karen could assist in finding Roxy a good home.
It feels a bit strange knowing that Roxy is leaving us - not that I have much to do with him
apart from the occasional guard duty or 'sniff out the missing piggie'
activity. HOWEVER, I will not miss wading through acres of soggy tissues and hankies
that build up around our Mistress H, nor the nerve shattering sneezing sessions.
Sunday 3 August 2003
Over to zeRellies for a quick visit to pick up a CD of a band that contains the son of a
friend of a friend of a cousin of ...you get the drift. I managed to score a piece of
leftover pizza!!! YUMMMMM!!!
Saturday 2 August 2003
Ooo! Not put much in the diary this week! Mistress Hellen not feeling very well
all week - probably Post Semen-ahhh Depression really.
Michael visits and we go off to Neeve's place. Yummy take away dinner and then sitting
around doing not much.
