The Beagle Diary
A
fascinating (perhaps) insight into Streamer's life with and without Mistress
Hellen. The diary is updated frequently.
SEPTEMBER 2003
Saturday 27 September 2003
This afternoon Missus Elizabeth rang and asked if we wanted to visit and help with
gardening. Don't know what she's thinking - the wind is blowing so hard that the humans
would have to put rocks in their shoes to stay on the ground. We declined the
invitation as we're doing the final preparation for tonight's recording session.
Off to 2RRR to record another 4 hour tape featuring music more music that was sent to the
Music Library. I am always overawed at the astonishing music that's
available. Again all went smoothly with this tape and suddenly it was all over and time
to get on home.
Wednesday 24 September 2003
After the show this morning I put on the new long tape I made. Was a bit distressed to
hear that it was skipping and jumping - and probably not for joy!! Oh Dear, the
problems with the video player at 2RRR appear to be continuing. I hope the problem
isn't with the tape - that would be a great tragedy because it's full of great music.

Whoah!!! How about this HEAT!!!
Spent a lot of time today listening to music and watching the fish. Stayed a goodly
distance away from the glass so I wouldn't have to clean up any nose nuzzle
splotches. I'm also not going to bark at them any more after I promised Mistress Hellen
I wouldn't do it again.
Oh bother - just realised I've typed up the playlist for 'Music Library Vol 1' with the
performer names where the song titles should go and vice versa.
*big beagle sigh* This has of course delayed the publication of the playlist!
Sunday 21 September 2003 (back to top)
Was woken from our intended sleep in by the phone ringing. The answering machine
kicked in and then we could hear someone talking, realised it wasn't anyone we knew
so neither of us bothered to stir and run to the phone.
Just as we're settling again - the phone rings.......and the answering machine again
starts reciting its 'message of the moment'.....and then...nothing - no message being
left. THEN - the phone rings AGAIN....
Our answering machine has a life of its own. Often the messages it gives to callers
cause great amusement. What frequently happens if strangers call is that they hear the
message, are greatly amused and so then get everyone else in their office or home to
ring to listen....which can be very annoying on a Sunday morning when
you've only been asleep 4 hours. SO...by this third call Mistress H leaps out of bed
picks up the phone and whispers "hello" to which there was a long silence and then the
caller hung up!!! Back to bed - no more calls (for the moment anyway).
Typed up the playlist from last night's long tape. I'm still feeling very good
about having made another long tape. Haven't done one since Boxing Day last
year.
How very strange - today started off very cold and then rainy and then - warmed up to a
stupid temperature after the sun went down.
Saturday 20 September 2003
Went to 2RRR tonight and made a new long tape. Well, it's not really that long, only
4 hours - called 'The Music Library Volume 1' and is almost all music that has been sent
to 2RRR in the last few months.
I've very pleased with this tape. Everything went so smoothly too. Arrived home
about 2am and fiddled around for hours because we're going to have a nice sleep in tomorrow.
Thursday 18 September 2003 (back to top)
Oooo! Mistress Hellen borrowed some CDs (as if we don't already have enough
*rolls eyes*) from a friend at work.
Later: Oooo! (again) - these are SO GOOD - my favourite so far is Andrea
Bocelli - 'Sentimento' and I must confess to never having knowingly heard Andrea before -
Oooo! how wonderful. Lots more, but I'll have to listen more.
Wednesday 17 September 2003
Oh Dear, Richard (of the show before me) wasn't able to come in - BUT the Lovely Leigh* was
there instead so there was lots of happy tail wagging and excited squeakings from me!
Later: Oh dear (again), Mistress Hellen has really taken to this movie-watching
stuff. She brought home a very strange movie - 'Waking Life' which made me
slightly seasick watching everything wobble around - in the end I just
listened. VERY interesting movie with a wonderful soundtrack. I shall
have to track down this soundtrack - via the web of course - because in cyberspace,
no-one knows the beagle is using her human's credit card!
Oooo! Had reason to be speaking with the LEGENDARY Matt Curley (from 2RRR - listen
in to his 'Matthew's Magical Musical Hour' on Sunday Nights at 11pm) and he said I had a funky
website!!!! Lots of happy tail wagging at this compliment!!
Sunday 14 September 2003 (back to top)
Visited zeRellies today. Missus Elizabeth has two friends staying - friends from when
she was at school. They and Mistress Hellen went out galavanting while I stayed behind
and pestered Mister Darron into hurling a tennis ball around the backyard for me.
Spent time in the evening watching Wallace and (sigh) GROMIT again - very happy time for me.
Saturday 13 September 2003 * * Happy Birthday to BEAGLE DIARY * *
Wow, the web site has been up and running for ONE YEAR, which means I've been doing my show
for more than a year - the actual start of 'Streamer Never Sleeps' is a bit hazy really,
round about June or July last year. It's been great and a big thank you to all those
people and animals who drop by to read this diary and check out things.
Visited Dilys and Chelsea today - stayed behind with Chelsea while the humans went out and
did some grocery shopping. Again we ran around and behaved like we didn't have a brain
cell between us. I like going silly in Chelsea's backyard - it's just the right size
and shape for two dogs to behave like maniacs.
Friday 12 September 2003
Mistress Hellen read the bit I wrote yesterday about barking at the fish and now I'm in
trouble again. She suggested I might like to fill up my diary with all the other
stupid things I get up to. I shall neglect to record here all the things she listed.
Thursday 11 September 2003
Watched the fish for a long time today. I love giving a loud bark every now and then
and watching them jump. Seems they can hear - or at least sense - loud noises. (small
beagle laugh)
I remembered to clean up all my nose nuzzle splotches from the front of the tank before
Mistress Hellen came home.
Wednesday 10 September 2003 (back to top)
Oh dear, the trials of radio - only one CD working in the studio today at RRR. There
was also only one light overhead in the studio AND it looked (and smelt) like a sewer pipe
had burst and was gently irrigating the carpark.
It was lovely to have Richard (from the show before) back on deck again after his illness.
Later: Sent an email to almost all the artist I put in my September Recommended Listening
entry at the AMRAP site. ALMOST
all the artists because some people just can't be found - only their music remains to
testify to their existence. I don't think I've ever had a time when all 10 artist
could be found via email.
Sunday 7 September 2003
Visited Michael and Courtney so the humans could do more computer stuff. We stopped on
the way to buy some Krispy Kreme donuts - just to see what the fuss is about.
Results of the big KK taste test. Courtney had eaten them before and was excited to be
offered more, Mistress H thought they were very oily and a bit like eating puffed chewing
gum - but considered they were addictive, Michael didn't like them and agreed with Mistress
H except for the addictive aspect, and I was allowed ONE only - but enjoyed the experience.
Spent a lot of time pootling around in the back yard and generally enjoying myself.
Stopped at zeRellies on the way home to drop off THEIR package of Krispy Kreme samplings.
Saturday 6 September 2003 (back to top)
While we were out and about this morning we overheard someone's radio playing Dire Strait's
'Money for Nothing' which led us into discussing that the song is 18 years old. Good
grief! Also led to us listening to our Dire Strait's album, then Pink Floyd!!
Wednesday 3 September 2003
Couldn't pick up the newly arrived CDs this morning because no-one had left out the key to
the safe box. Kevin, who works in the office on Tuesdays, ALWAYS remembers, so I hope
he's not off sick or anything drastic.
Later: Night: Visited 2RRR to collect CDs now that key has been provided. Had a happy
time catching up with Leigh* of Sacrament Radio, our Gothic Music show.
Monday 1 September 2003 * * * Dilys' Birthday * * * Happy Spring * * *
Dilys visits for her birthday - she has asked if we can watch the movie 'Chocolat'.
In honour of the occasion, Mistress Hellen makes the Mayan Hot Chocolate that features in
the movie. I had a teeny taste and it was lovely.
We also watched 'Chicken Run' - ooo! by the same people who made MY favourite - Wallace
and *big sigh* GROMIT!!!!
Mistress H a bit green after the hot chocolate excessiveness of the evening.
