The Beagle Diary
A
fascinating (perhaps) insight into Streamer's life with and without Mistress
Hellen. The diary is updated frequently.
OCTOBER 2003
Friday 31 October 2003
How's the weather today!! One minute it's all sunny and bright, and then suddenly it's
blowing a gale - definitely time to retreat inside where one's ears don't flap around and
cause pain!
Out and about with Missus Elizabeth and Mistress Hellen. Visited Margot and John for
a while and then went to the aquarium so Missus Elizabeth could buy fish. Mistress H
gave in and also bought more. Let's hope we don't need that money for FOOD in the near
future - her being jobless and all.
Thursday 30 October 2003
2RRR is having the AGM on Saturday and things are hotting up in the discussion group.
I'm looking forward to catching up with a lot of people at the meeting.
For the last week, each morning I've been helping Mistress Hellen in the garden by digging
the holes so she can plant things. This is lots of fun. Not many pooches can say
they were ASKED to dig holes! I have also collected a lot of fallen branches and sticks
and stacked them neatly for future processing.
Wednesday 29 October 2003
Arrived at RRR and found PRESENTS!!! Maite and Chris from 'Trampoline' left a package
containing a St Bernard puppy keyring - very cool. Rick from 'My kind of Jazz' left me
a CD of fabulous piano music. What a great way to start the evening/night.
Later: Went for a walk and watched Mistress Hellen collect mulberries from a tree in a local
public area. Astonishing that the tree hasn't been stripped of fruit already. I
ended up with purple paws from mushing around in the fallen fruit.
Visited Dilys and Chelsea to deliver the mulberries. This visit has cheered up
Mistress Hellen no end and she is almost back to her old self again. After we came
home, we even went through some of our tap dancing routines again. Both very rusty
because we haven't been tapping for ages.
Tuesday 28 October 2003 (back to top)
Heard from The Fireman of WARD "C" - who advises that the Sanatorians have been recalled to
Planet Sanatorius and may not return. This is AWFUL!!!! I shall report more when
I hear more!
Monday 27 October 2003
It's very worrying - Mistress Hellen - now jobless since last Tuesday - has taken to sleeping
all the time. I'm also worried because it's been weeks since I heard from Doctor
Apollo from WARD "C". Mistress Hellen woke long enough to write a very pleading letter
to the Good Doctor - telling him I was pining for him.
Sunday 26 October 2003
Visited zeRellies today and enjoyed the breakfast leftovers!!! Played a lot in the
garden once we returned home. Mistress H worn out after the visit because most of her
time was spent getting their computer to behave again. She used this as an excuse to
sleep for the rest of the day.
Received an email from - A LISTENER!!!!!! This is very very exciting. Now I'm
nervous about having a listener. His name is Neil. *cheery waving to Neil*
I've been in contact with Dan Lloyd, discussing the possibility of having him on the show -
he is the person who did the remixing for Terami Hirsch's album 'From the Ash'. This
is very exciting - and it seems I may do a Saturday night slot soon so Dan can come and
explain all about remixing.
Saturday 25 October 2003 (back to top)
Is life passing me by? Haven't been out and about to see any live music for ages,
haven't done much of anything outside the house apart from visiting zeRellies and doing
my show. This is not good. Maybe tonight we'll do something as we're off to
see Michael today - and we may venture out to do interesting things.
The most astonishing storm hit in the afternoon - and we watched from the safety of the
back verandah. Hail, lightening, thunder, driving rain!!!!! Very exciting!!
Later: Out for a drive just to check out the neighbourhood and beyond after the
storm. That was the extent of our outings today - no band or dance or anything like
that. Still, I mustn't complain because we had an enjoyable time together.
Thursday 23 October 2003
Recorded an 8 hour standby tape today. Off to 2RRR early in the morning, taking along
all the things required for a comfortable day - food, drink, that sort of thing.
After two false starts to the taping we proceed smoothly. The show is unplanned, and
my time is spent deciding what's going to be played next. Everything flowed
astonishingly well and it certainly took up a lot less of my life instead of spending days
juggling playlist entries to get a satisfactory flow of music.
Wednesday 22 October 2003
We saw our 'middle of the night' gardener again on the way home from 2RRR! Almost
stopped to give him a flyer for my show and for this website. Next time for sure - and
I'll get Mistress Hellen to do it and to say "make sure you read beagle diary because we
mention you".
For those of you who haven't heard of our 'middle of the night' gardener before - we see him
out on the nature strip doing the weeding, raking, edging at around 3:30am. Gardening
by the phases of the moon perhaps?
Sunday 19 October 2003 (back to top)
After lolling around the house all morning Mistress Hellen announces it's time to buy some
new fish for the fish tanks. We pack ourselves into the car and I do the usual of
poking my head out the window and making cute faces at the occupants of other vehicles.
On the way to the aquarium we stop at Rookwood Cemetery for their Spring Garden day and
while I collect pats from the people tending the stalls, Mistress Hellen manages to collect
plants at very good prices - since it was near to packing up time.
Onwards we go - now with the back of the car loaded with new plants - an unexpected detour,
but a very good one.
It's good catching up with our friends at the aquarium and Mistress H chooses a variety of
fish to liven up one of our tanks. It's been quite a while since new fish have arrived
in the house.
Saturday 18 October 2003
Oh Dear, I've allowed Beagle Diary to be neglected for over a week. I've been very
busy - which means I should have more things to write! Silly that - being too busy
to keep a record of what I've been up to.
Friday 10 October 2003
It's very wintery again. Found some sunlight patches in the house and dozed there for
most of the morning. Spent the afternoon listening to Andrea Bocelli! Lovely!
Mistress Hellen working late so I amused myself by howling at the moon for a while.
Mister John from next door came on over to find out what was wrong. Thought it best to
stop the howling after that.
Thursday 9 October 2003
YaY! The car is fixed and we're off to 2RRR to collect this week's new CDs and drop off
the latest ones I cataloged. We have a great time socialising with the presenters who
are there. There was George Trajkovski who does the Macedonian program - I love the
music he plays, and Rick Farraway who does a program called 'My kind of Jazz' - traditional
'sing along with' sort of Jazz which I prefer over the experimental sort of weird
stuff. I had A Great Time!
Two of the albums I ordered online have arrived which is very exciting.
Wednesday 8 October 2003 (back to top)
No radio show from me this morning because Mistress H said she didn't want to risk using the
car and being stuck at 2RRR at a stupid time of the morning. Very strange not doing the
show - this is only the second one I've missed!! The last one was missed because of HER
too - she was too sick to take me to RRR. Hrrrumph!!
Saturday 4 October 2003
Oh Oh. Mistress H returns from a Saturday morning outing and announces there's problems
with the car's electricals. Now why couldn't that have happened LAST Saturday so we
could have had everything fixed last Wednesday????
Later: Mister Michael visits - the humans do computer things again and I listen to some of the
new music for that 2RRR has received. Am still waiting for the things I ordered on line
to arrive.
Wednesday 1 October 2003
Happy October Everyone! The second 'from the Music Library' tape went to air after my
show this morning and seemed to be just fine - no skipping and jumping. I'm SO pleased
with these two new standby tapes. I'm already planning the next two.
Came home after the show and put the playlist for the long tape up on my website because all
through the show I tell people they can check it out! No good sending people to
something that doesn't exist yet.
