The Beagle Diary
A
fascinating (perhaps) insight into Streamer's life with and without Mistress
Hellen. The diary is updated frequently.
NOVEMBER 2003
Sunday 30 November 2003
Have started work again on the Blue Pop website. It's been sadly neglected during this
year due to other commitments and also Blue Pop have been doing a lot of work producing songs
rather than promoting their work.
I'm also planning to revamp this website, drawing on the things Mistress Hellen and I have
learnt this year from her tech endeavours.
Saturday 29 November 2003
Attended Courtney's birthday party but only for a while. It was too hot and noisy to
be comfortable and Mistress Hellen had a tech assignment to finish.
Friday 28 November 2003
ANOTHER huge walk today!!! This time we visited Missus Elizabeth at her work - she
has a job that allows visitors! Was very exciting.
In our neighbourhood there are some fireworks enthusiasts. That's OK most of the time
this household is used to loud noises at all times of the night. However..there are
some times when it becomes 'Beagle Howl Worthy' - when they sound like they're being
discharged on THIS front lawn, as happened tonight and last Friday night. Good way
to meet the neighbours, as the louder-than-usual sound had people out and about, gazing
this way and that looking for the perpetrators!
Thursday 27 November 2003
It's been a busy week with Mistress Hellen working on her TAFE assignments and just
being not very playful. I've helped too - advising on how to do her website for
the big project - so helpful to have a Beagle in the house who understands data
validation and scripting!!!!
We had a HUGE walk in the morning though - it was so good to get out of the house
for a long time. Visited some of the local creeks, ponds and waterways, just
for the fun of it.
Wednesday 26 November 2003 (back to top)
Mistress Hellen wants me to write the following Hello Message: (so I'd best do it!)
Hello to Mark, John and Peter (teachers) and Paul, Mitchel, Tingyu and Trevor (other
students).
I hope that everyone finishing up their TAFE courses are eating well, getting
enough sleep and remembering - 'the worst thing that can happen is that you fail
a subject and have to do it again'. Which means that the repeat of the subject
will be easier - because it won't be new knowledge to you'. There ends my
philosophy lesson for the day.
Tuesday 25 November 2003 * * * Courtney's Birthday * * *
Mistress Hellen says that she remembers the day Courtney was born - and that morning,
on the way to work, she learnt of Freddie Mercury's death.
Spent time today observing nature - sitting still and quietly watching the small
things. The invasion of baby birds continues - now they are creatures who
don't understand the concept of being still and quiet!
Sunday 23 November 2003
To zeRellies, but not to breakfast (although we did manage to browse in the fridge
and polish off some leftovers from the night before). We're off to Michael's
taking with us a fishtank (from zeRellies - specifically, BoyGeoffrey). This
tank is for Courtney, who has a birthday very very soon!!
I end up not feeling very well so we come home very early from Michael's.
Saturday 22 November 2003 (back to top)
Rugby fever has overtaken everything. We visit Neeve and astonishingly, end up
watching this silly game for a while. The humans go out for a while - to a
pub of all places - leaving me to amuse myself. Mostly I dozed, not very
interesting really.
Wednesday 19 November 2003
Awww, no-one left the key for me to collect the newly arrived CDs at RRR this
morning. Will have to return tonight.
There are some advantages to visiting 2RRR at times other than when I do my show - getting to
catch up with others and collect lots of pats and hugs. Went over there just before
10pm and had a great time socialising with Leigh* (Sacrament Radio), Colin and Louise
(Down the Line) and Phillipe (Canvas Bag Radio - he was there doing production work).
Sunday 16 November 2003
Was relieved to realise the temperature was steadily decreasing after the early morning hot
start. It was scary to hear that at 7:30am it was 24 degrees, by 8:30 it was
26.6! Had started making plans for hiding all day at the zeRellies - in airconditioned
comfort. By the time we'd finished our 'zeRellies Breakfast' it had cooled down and so
we came home.
Saturday 15 November 2003
Too hot! Spent a lot of the day under the house. Visited Dilys and Chelsea in the
late evening - lay around in the cool of the garden while the humans chatted.
Wednesday 12 November 2003 (back to top)
Saw Barney and his human again today. He was sporting a rather interesting hair cut and
he told me that his human had resorted to using scissors rather than the clippers for his
last grooming session. I said it looked kind of punk and was very cool. For those
of you who have not read about Barney before - he's just the BEST looking dog and no-one, not
even him, knows what breeds were crossed for him to turn out so fine.
Tuesday 11 November 2003 - Remembrance Day
Investigated the crashing and thumping and sound of breaking glass coming from across the
street. Turns out that Tony is having a giant cleanup. I stayed out of the way
because they'd dropped some glass and no-one (especially ME) was keen on having my paws cut.
Mistress Hellen rescued some plastic grapes that he was tossing out. These will be
presented to Doctor Apollo on his return for use with the song 'Her Royale
Thighness'. They already have a bunch they use, but one never knows when spares might
come in handy.
Sunday 9 November 2003
Breakfast at zeRellies is almost routine now. Another yummy time! I stayed behind
and played in the yard while the two sisters ventured forth to do some necessary
shopping. Everyone was astonished when they managed to stay out for about 4 hours!
Saturday 8 November 2003 (back to top)
Michael rang again and asked how flexible we were. I started to show how well I could
catch my tail until Mistress Hellen reminded me that 1. That wasn't what Michael meant, and
2. even if he DID mean that, he couldn't see me being a smarty bum. Anyway, the
question was because Putt Putt was off *phew* and visiting Michael's place is on! Yippee!
Before we set off to Michael's we watched Matrix - the first one - we've never seen it
before. Very interesting! It was a most enjoyable time at Michael's, with new
people to meet and lots of pats and little presents of extra food. I was quiet, not
speaking or being anything but a small excitable beagle in the company of many new friends.
Friday 7 November 2003
Saw Barney today, he came by with his human, Ann. While the humans chatted we caught up
with what has been happening in our lives. Today was also good because the sisters did
another 'Sisters Day' which meant we were out and about together.
I have had word that Doctor Apollo and the other Sanatorian are safe and well on their
home planet. They think they may return after Earth Christmas.
Michael rang and asked if Mistress Hellen was fine for more Putt Putt tomorrow night. I
said I hoped this wasn't going to be a regular occurrence, she does have her reputation to
consider.
Thursday 6 November 2003
Having a good time today playing with this website. I've been investigating using the
'include' command so that updating the Beagle Diary contents links won't be such a pain in
the future. I think eventually I'll have to investigate a drop down menu.
Meanwhile, my task for the near future is to convert all the diary pages! Won't be
happening tonight because Mistress Hellen is hogging the computer to do a tech assignment.
Wednesday 5 November 2003 (back to top)
After becoming increasingly pooped off about spam, I've investigated ways to minimise it,
including encoding my 'mailto:' email address on this site. Those horrible 'email
harvesters' come on by and snatch my email address from here. Now they won't
recognise it! Updated my links page to include some anti-spam sites.
The day became too hot for me and I lazed a lot on the bathroom floor.
Heard Mistress Hellen speaking with Neeve today about how both of them are very tired for
no apparent reason. Other friends report this unusual tiredness too. Weather
perhaps? Time of year?
Monday 3 November 2003
Spent a lot of time today watching the fish. The smaller tank looks really great now
with all the new fish and I'm really glad we have them. I also watched the pointy
headed, squeaky winged doves for a while from the safety of Command and Observation Post 1.
After a lazy day we went out with Mary Ellen, Jackson and some of their friends to see 'The
Bondi Cigars' - great blues band! Resisted the urge to ask for Mistress Hellen to buy
their latest album. Don't want to miss out on FOOD because we're buying music.
Sunday 2 November 2003 (back to top)
Over to zeRellies again this morning for our traditional barbecue breakfast. Missus
Elizabeth said that she's read that I always call my meal 'the breakfast leftovers' - and
wanted to point out that, yes, I get the leftovers, but she and Mister Darron always put on
enough food so that my share is there! AND I get whatever others don't eat! WHAT
a wonderful woman she is! *happy tail wagging*
Visited with Chelsea this afternoon while the humans went off and did other things.
Saturday 1 November 2003
Out and about early this morning to a church stall. Very impressed with all the plants
Mistress Hellen and Dilys bought for very little money. We then headed off for the much
anticipated 2RRR AGM!!! YES at LAST!!!
Oh Dear. Due to a legal problem with proxy votes, the AGM had to be abandoned until
legal advice was sought. Ooo! I hope I don't get into trouble for revealing that
here. So there we all were - heaps of 2RRR-ers gathered in one spot. A good time
for catching up though and we were still served our food - so that was good.
I enjoyed being able to speak with programmers I don't often run into. A special hello
to DJ Timmy Lee who does 'Soundsville' on Wednesdays at 2pm. He's so enthusiastic about
his show and about 2RRR - it's wonderful.
After the aborted AGM we came home and napped. Michael and Courtney visited and in the
evening the three humans went off to do....of all things...'Putt Putt' (that's mini-golf for
those of you who don't live in Australia) ...oh dear. I stayed home and watched Wallace
and Gromit *sigh*. Gromit is SO CUTE!!!!
