Streamer's History
Check out the 'Streamer Never Sleeps' Program Play Lists which provide
an interesting snapshot of the music released by independent (and not so indendent)
artists from 2002 to 2004.
Streamer and her human - Mistress Hellen - have been doing radio shows since 1999, after
completing the 2RRR Radio Training Course.
They started out in October 99 doing a cooking show with two others who had been in the same Radio Training Course class. It soon became evident that things weren't so good in the kitchen of life, so Streamer and Mistress Hellen packed up the wooden spoons and moved on. Both say they
wish they'd handled the situation with a little more dignity - but they've learnt a lot since
then about the chemistry of sharing a radio studio with others.
After that, Mistress Hellen did a few Musik Majik shows with Andy and Mark (two other fellow
students) but it wasn't really to Mistress Hellen's liking, so she gave up radio for a while.
While Mistress Hellen took a back seat, Streamer launched forward into making long tapes.
It was during this time they both got to know loads of 2RRR programmers, as the making of these
long tapes meant a lot of time spent at the station. Programmers became very used to the
sight of these two clowing around in the corridor, sitting being creative in the studio and
generally making themselves quite at home.
At the beginning of 2001, Andy asked Mistress Hellen to join him on Musik Majik again, as Mark
had left to move to another state. So while Mistress Hellen rejoined the broadcasting tribe
again, Streamer still worked on long tapes and generally getting in the way.

In the next 18 months, Mistress Hellen did almost half the Musik Majik shows alone, due to Andy being
unable to always be at the studio. Streamer would come along, and both longed to have a show
that was of their own choosing - format, music, style.
My early 2002, they were both becoming a lot pooped off at caretaking a show they didn't want
to be presenting and not really being given the freedom to properly develop the format.
'Streamer Never Sleeps' began in mid 2002 after Streamer started exploring the treasures of the
Music Library. She was so impressed by what she found that the only destiny fulfilling
thing to do was to embark upon a program that featured this music.
So they abandoned Musik Majik to its own devices and launched into presenting a show that
truly did affect most of their waking hours - and sleeping hours too. Since the show
was presented in the middle of the night (1am - 3am), it required some careful management of
sleep.
The name of the show was suggested by 2RRR's Metal Matriach, Zandrah. She suggested
'Streamer Never Sleeps' because it matches the Metal show ('Metal Never Sleeps') that
happens overnight into Tuesday morning. Incidentally, the name of THAT show was
suggested by Streamer only a few months earlier! A fair swap of bright ideas.
A few months later, after being frustrated at not having access to the latest arrivals, Streamer
hijacked all the new CDs and cataloged them, releasing them into the studio shelves for others
to use. She then took over cataloging the CDs for the Music Library, a task that kept
her out of the way for a few hours each week.

"I hear so much awesome, fabulous, wonderful music while cataloging the CDs that some
days I think my head will explode."
. . . . . .Streamer the Beagle
Streamer often claimed the best thing about doing the show is that she was exposed to some of
the most awesome music she's ever heard.
Along with the music she would give Band Information (often read right from
the publicity sheets - in pure BioBlurb), spout Witty Observations, and occasionally indulge
herself with the now-famous 'Sing Along With Streamer' where she'd squeak in an oldie just for the fun of it.
In 2003 Streamer started covering Bruce Argyle's Wednesday slot where he'd been presenting 'Down
Memory Lane'. She covered this until the end of April 2004.
Unfortunately, two things happened that stopped Streamer presenting 'Down Memory
Lane' - the workload of preparing two shows (and 'Streamer Never Sleeps' had
a lot of other time hungry tasks attached to it) was too much, and then,
Mistress Hellen went and found a DAY JOB!
Not long after that, in June 2004, Streamer then stopped doing 'Streamer Never Sleeps'. One big reason was that Mistress Hellen's sleep patterns became so disrupted that one full night's sleep became a rarity. When the show had first started, she'd been on a late starting shift, so a very
late night had not been a problem.
They toyed with the idea of applying for a more reasonably situated time slot, but there were no earlier slots available.
Another reason was that the committment to updating the playlists on the website, reporting to
AMRAP, keeping up with artists, doing the music library and a lot of other things that supported
the show just became too much for both of them to handle. It seems they'd just burnt out
after the earlier efforts of doing two shows at once. It was time to bail out of radio
for a while.
So in early June 2004, they hung up the headphones for a while. However, radio is just
their destiny and much to a lot of people's joy - they are BACK!
