| Around the Bay in a Day, 210 kms around Port Phillip Bay. Starting at Frankston then to Sorrento, a ferry to Queenscliff then to Geelong, Melbourne and back to Frankston. Aim - To finish the 210kms. Goal - To do it under 12hrs. Well I finished ok, taking 12hrs and 30mins including waiting for the ferry and the ferry ride, approx 1 hour. 1 unscheduled stop about 30kms from the finish to rest. Apart from the strong head winds most of the way, it was a great event to do on a trike, along with several thousand cyclists. |

3 Day Ride. Starting at Woodend (Victoria) six of us pedalled our way to Daylesford. The other five just happened to be on those 2 wheelers, an easy ride stopping for lunch in a quaint old town. Next day we made our way to Maldon, an old (restored) gold mining town, again another easy ride, well it was for me, no sore bum, no balancing required and from bitumen to gravel no slowing down. After a restless night, due to some loud snoring, (as I was kept awake I knew it wasn't me) we headed for Bendigo. It felt like it was downhill all the way, cruising along about 30kph. On reaching Bendigo it was time for getting our bikes, trike and gear on the train and head home. A great 3 day tour averaging approx. 60kms a day. |
Wonthaggi 24hr Race. Bitumen track 1.4kms long using roads. Points system to determine winner, including, Design, Construction and Number of laps completed. 1999 - 2nd place completing 486 laps average speed of 28.35kph. 2000 - 1st place completing 512 laps average speed of 29.86kph. 8 riders in the team, changing riders about every 40mins. Joe, he's the cook and kept us going.

So, having raced them, toured on them, and heaps
of day rides with my local club, I suggest you get your body into one and
check it out. Michael

TRIKES ARE GREAT FUN. The future? A flight to Perth and pedalling back
to Melbourne, sounds pretty good to me.
