Pear gingerbread
Ingredients
- 250g butter
- 1 cup raw sugar
- ¾ cup golden syrup
- 3 pears
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 and third cups plain flour
- 1 and third cups self-raising flour
- 1 tsp bicarbonate soda
- 2 and ½ tsps ground ginger
Method
- Cook butter, sugar and solden syrup over medium heat until butter melted and mixture smooth.
- Set aside to cool.
- Cut pears into approx 16 even slices and place arrange over base of two round baking dishes.
- Add egg to butter mixture and mix well.
- Sift flours, bicarb and ginger together and add to the butter mixture alternately with the milk.
- pour mixture over pears.
- Bake in preheated hot oven for ~50 minutes.
Notes
- Makes two cakes.
- Can use can of pears instead of fresh pears.
