Cruzin For A Cure...

Since Peter Moore started the XW-XY Falcon Owners Club many years ago one of the great things he enjoyed in life was the company of those associated with it.

Following the success of  his benefit night “For Pete’s Sake” held in September 2003, Pete decided to organise what we hoped would be an annual Club run called CRUZIN FOR A CURE. He decided that all money raised will be donated to the WESTMEAD MILLENNIUM INSTITUTE (WMI) to be held in the “PETER MOORE TRUST” as part of a capital fundraising initiative for brain tumor research. He chose the WMI as the beneficiaries of his trust due to their innovative “Bench to Bedside” philosophy of finding cures and saving lives. We expect this to be a long-term fundraising venture that will enable the expansion of current viral and genetic research to be applied to the effective treatment of malignant tumors. The WMI also devotes significant resources to other areas of cancer research such as leukemia that Pete also suffered with and eventually took his life.

The following extract is a small insight into how passionate Pete was to raise money for his cause (written by Pete in Nov-Dec 2003)

“ So many of us today have been touched in some way by cancer. Australia leads the world in research for this deadly disease. The Millennium Institute at Westmead Hospital is one of the leaders of this field.

Cruzin For A Cure is there for you and your car club to help raise much needed funds just by doing what we love. Cruising to different destinations with a club for a picnic BBQ and a Chin Wag.”

Stephen Henry (Digger) and Step son Adam thought it fitting to continue to fulfill a promise that they made to Peter concerning raising money and awareness of medical research so that in the future a cure can be developed for terminal illnesses such as the cancer that he had to endure.

May we carry on the wishes of a great man for many years to come and raise much needed funds for such a great cause.

More information regarding the fantastic research and community programs conducted at the WMI can be found on their website www.wmi.usyd.edu.au. Digger is also running a website www.cruzinforacure.com that we hope will provide more information in the future.
