About me

I've been doing miniatures for about 15 years. I knew nothing about the hobby until my friend Ruth's sister called us one Saturday and asked, "What are you doing tomorrow there is a Mini Show in Sydney and I need some small jars for a Club Project".

When we walked into the Show that exhibition and trading hall was jumping and both Ruth and I knew we were in trouble. Our downfall, was just two words COMING WORKSOPS.  I remember our conversation (well our justification) if we complete each project as we go we'll be OK. We were OK, until we got to the 3rd Project "a general store" lots of shelves to stock, we'd discovered mail order for miniatures and we put our name down for a Convention weekend.

I'm fortunate in that I have made some great friends through miniatures and we have taken a number of trips to the USA for "mini" holidays, where we met a group in Los Angeles called "Miniatures West".  This club has a fantastic show and workshops in February each year.  For a number years each February off we went to LA and San Diego for our two week trip we attended shows, workshops, visited Mini, Patchwork, and Railway shops, Craft and Jewellery Outlets. I now have family who live in the UK and USA none of whom are interested in miniatures but all set aside a few days for Mini Shopping when I come to visit.

Most of my work is now 1/4 scale because I've discovered I can have a lot more 1/4 scale houses, compared to 1/12th . I hope you enjoy looking at my miniatures. I've completed a lot of Debbie Young's quarter scale kits, and several of Pam Junk's. It's good that we now have an Australian miniaturist, Judy Moras, who designs 1/4 scale kit projects too.

I'm also a member of the Australian Miniature Enthusiasts Association (AMEA). It's a good way to meet other miniaturists, have a cup of tea & a chat and swap ideas for projects. Some of my pieces on this site, like my Australian Cottage (right) were made as AMEA convention projects.

Through the magic of photography here I am sitting in my dolls' house!
