This road or track, suitable only for 4WD led to the top of the highest mountain in the range and there sat an abandoned house on stilts with a verandah surrounding it. We needed to carry our supplies and bedding to the house and leave the car down in the valley beside the creek. Unfurnished and run-down this house became shelter for a couple of nights. It had a fire place thankfully, as it was mid winter and freezing cold.
