Bert Shield

			Herbert (Bert) Shield, my father, was born in Filton, Bristol UK in 1906. He migrated to Australia at the age of 21. He married Hazel Costin and they raised seven children. Bert died in Sydney in 1975. Photo above shows Herb's (His mother would never allow anyone to call him Bert, or worse, Bertie in those days.) class at Filton school. The local school in Filton is now known as Shield Road School. I performed there in 1999. In the photo on the right I have enlarged Herbert and performed digital surgery on the unfortunate crack across his forehead.
