Kaiyu pronounced (Kie You) is a word from the Awabakal language and means “to have power and ability”.

Kaiyu Enterprises Inc. commits its resources to developing opportunities and support within the Lower Hunter (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas) to assist people with a mental illness/psychiatric disability to have satisfying and valued lives as full members of the community.

Living with or recovering from a mental illness can be a long and difficult struggle. With 1 in 5 Australians experiencing mental illness, we will all know someone - family, friend or work mate - who is affected. As the symptoms of mental illness reduce, the person needs to regain confidence, skills, relationshjps with others and a sense of hope for the future. People with a mental illness now have short and less frequent stays in hospital so the need for responsive community-based assistance is vital.

Our Goal is to provide information on the range of support and rehabilitation services to people who have experienced mental illness.
