Youth Week
As part of Youth Week Activities, Kaiyu, in partnership with our KKEIP Well participants, Tighes Hill Tafe, and local schools, developed an educational and promotional DVD exploring the issues and experiences of living with a mental illness. The DVD was shown to students at St Mary's High School and Southlakes Youth Centre and students were given the opportunity to ask questions and find out information on mental illness. The peer interaction component was pivotal to the success of the program. Kaiyu is currently seeking funding to continue the program in schools (KKEIP Well in School) and hopefully help to reduce the stigma and isolation associated with mental illness.

Personal Support Program
Due to the Government's New Employment Service, and the change in direction of service delivery, Kaiyu no longer provides the Personal Support Program. This was a sad occasion for Kaiyu as it farewelled dedicated staff. We wish them well in their future endeavours. Kaiyu has successfully provided the PSP since July 2002 assisted many people facing the challenge of disadvantage in the community.

Devastation for Kaiyu as fire damages the Argenton Hall. Konnect has relocated to temporary premises at Cardiff until repairs to the hall are complete.

KKEIP Well
Kaiyu incorporated an additional program into their repertoire of services. Kaiyu Konnect Early Intervention Program (KKEIP Well) is an early intervention program for young people aged 18-25 years experiencing mental illness. This innovative program includes a 1:1 social inclusion component and we are currently accepting referrals.
Accreditation
Kaiyu recently completed the accreditation process and, at the conclusion of the site visit, the reviewers from Quality Management Services indicated that Kaiyu had met all relevant standards and have received a "recommendation for accreditation". Formal notification is expected in November 2009.
