KAMMER Origins
Launched
as the “Bennelong Ensemble” in 1999 by professional
musicians from Australia and Great Britain, the ensemble quickly
established a reputation for excellence and innovation through
performances at the British Music Information Centre, St.James’
Church, Piccadilly and as part of the “Fresh” series at the
Purcell Room, on London’s South Bank
The
ensemble went on to perform in a live broadcast for the BBC Radio 3
programme “In Tune”, They participated in the
Jackson’s Lane “Music Past & Present” series in
London and toured throughout the UK.
Their festival appearances have included Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Grassington, Henley and Linari in Italy.
The
Bennelong Ensemble opened the PricewaterhouseCoopers Celebrity Recital
Series 2004 at Jersey Arts Centre to enthusiastic reviews, “...if
there has been a more vivid example of the power of contemporary music
performed at the Arts Centre I certainly can’t recall
it.”(Jersey Evening Post)
Three
of the founding members of the Bennelong Ensemble have since moved to
Australia. They are: Lisa Osmialowski (Flute), John Lewis
(Clarinet) and Alan Hicks (Piano). With two colleagues from
London, Scott Taggart (Violin) and Christine Jackson (‘Cello)
they form the heart which is KAMMER.
