Australia Post and their Quality Assurance

The item in their "care" was a YAMAHA SCSI CD-ROM burner

I had it sent registered post to make sure it was sent and would be insured

The item was in perfect condition on ebay but upon arrival it had a size 11 bootprint on it compliments of the postal system.

I opened up the item and went to install it but the CD draw wouldn't open and upon closer inspection I noticed the fascia, frame & bezel was damaged and the external case was misaligned:

I went straight to the local Post Office and they photocopied but kept the external packaging (boot print) and noted the 4 layers of bubblewrap were flattened at the point where the package had been stood on, a claim form was filed but this was their typical response.

All care and no responsibility or what?

After this I have to hear all their quality assurance bullshit when I ring and get the menu.

After looking on the Australia Post website with no success I decided to clarify their policy by email in regard to liability on shipping I.T, PC and components.

Looks like each item's suitability would be up to the discretion of each and any employee at the counter, so I guess you stand in the queue with all your packages open till you get the yay or nay, counter productive?

Clear as mud or what?
