Who Are We Raising Money For And Why?

 

Why did you decide to do the calendar and choose Alzheimer's and Cancer?

Cathy: Why is a number of reasons. The easiest answer was because my Nana had Alzheimer’s and I have known many people with cancer, like relatives, workmates and passengers. Some still with us and some sadly not.

Bryan: It's a good way to raise funds. My mother had Alzheimers and i lost my brother to cancer and my sister is currently fighting cancer. I just wanted to do something a little bit more other than just watching loved ones suffer and feel helpless.

This kind of thing has been done before. Why not something different?

Cathy: I must admit that posing nude for a calendar is not an original idea, but it’s not about what has been done before or what is original or not, it’s about raising money for worthy causes, because they have touched our hearts.

Were you scared about posing nude?

Cathy: I thought posing nude would be one of the scariest things I’d do in my life, but then I thought about those suffering these illnesses and my idea of what is scary pales in comparison. If you stop and think and imagine being told by a doctor you have only 12 months to live or one day going for a walk and find yourself lost and not sure how to get back home, posing nude seems small and insignificant on the scale of scary emotions sufferers face everyday. It was then I realised I could make a difference and try to inspire others to help as well.

Bryan: The bottom line is if this helps to further education about Cancer and Alzheimer’s then I’m willing to do whatever it takes to help and if that meant going nude, then so be it.

Were you nervous about asking others and the reaction you'd get?

Cathy: I was a little worried I’d have trouble getting other people to do the same, but I was overwhelmed by volunteers for the calendar who gladly gave their time and ideas to the project without hesitation. So we hope people don’t hesitate to purchase one of the calendars.

Do you think you can make a difference?

Bryan: We've already made a difference, because people have become passionate about wanting to help and so many people have asked us what can they do or when can we buy this calendar. And we can make a bigger difference if enough people get behind us and support these two organisations.
