Linda
Vergnani is an award-winning writer and highly skilled editor with book, magazine and newspaper experience. She was previously head of communications for a major non-profit
agency, the Independent Development Trust (IDT), which distributed some
A$1 billion in funding to over 8,800 projects in South Africa. She was
in charge of all internal and external communication for the trust and
was founding editor of its magazine Leading Edge.
Her features have been published in more than 25 newspapers
and magazines on four continents. Publications that have carried her articles include The Australian, Reader's Digest, Australian Doctor, Africa Environment and Wildlife, The Bulletin, Times Higher Education Supplement and Qantas, The Australian Way. Her photographs have been published in two
books and numerous magazines.
Linda is a former
correspondent of the weekly newspaper The Chronicle of Higher Education,
published in Washington DC. In 2001 she won the top prize in the South
African Science and Technology Journalism Awards for a feature on a Namibian
desert research station. She has a special interest in the environment and social justice issues.
