My opinion of this latest DL episode (Spoilers aplenty inside...) Thursday, 12-Aug-1999 22:59:55 207.210.110.15 writes: Hmmm, where to begin?....Ah, I suppose the beginning's the best place. I guess I'll give my impressions of each game. 1. Weird Newscasters - Nice to finally see Denny play something other than straightman. She did pretty darn good too in my opinion. Colin was very funny, and Ryan was hilarious as well, setting the entire set on fire, then dousing himself off with his glass of water! :) 2. Multiple Personalities - A good attempt with some difficult impressions. However I've discovered a theory...none of them do a good Scooby Doo impression :) 3. Fashion Models - An interesting game, and quite good to boot. This game would probably be best played only a few games, it seems like a game that can lose its novelty very quickly. 4. World's Worst - First time on DL. All four did a good job (but poor Ryan resorted to doing his Scooby Doo impression a couple of times!) 5. Props - Interesting props, and interesting ideas. Damn ABC censors struck again with Greg. Anyone figure out what he said that was bleeped? 6. Party Quirks - Denny was pretty good at being a Jewish mother...the same quirk Greg did on an episode of the British version. Colin's quirk was just plain funny, and Ryan's was very bizarre, but I managed to get in quite a few chuckles. 7. Hoedown - Very good hoedowns from Denny, Greg and Colin. Sadly, I thought Ryan's off-topic hoedown was pretty weak, and not one of his best. However, I guess you can't blame the guy. Doing hoedowns over and over and over can sure take its toll on a person! Ending Game: 90-second Alphabet. Nice to see a three-way game of alphabet, though Greg and Drew did seem to hog most of the alphabet. :) Poor Ryan. :) Overall, I thought this was one of the better episodes. Well worth the wait. A few weak spots, but everyone tried genuinely hard, and seeing WW and the new game Fashion Models didn't hurt at all. My overall rating? 9/10. Whew, this was long winded! :) Emile ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Message thread: Emile: My opinion of this latest DL episode (Spoilers aplenty inside...) Her foul-mannered comedianne and Greg's Jewish mama were great! Colin and Ryan in Newscasters were pretty funny, too! In fact, the whole episode was great. If they do multiple personalities again, how about imitating Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby and Carol Channing??? I'd LOVE to see that! I also agree that none of the guys can do a great Scooby Doo impression (but so what?) but kudos to DL for (FINALLY) giving Denny a chance to shine. Hopefully next we can see her in Song Styles serenading a guy!!! That was possibly Ryan's WORST Hoedown ever. What was so terribly hard about an IRS Hoedown? Colin's was way funnier? He seemed almost bitter. 3) I though Ryan did a *great* Scooby Doo, but his Jimmy Stewart was PRICELESS. 4) Don't hit me, but I am getting a bit tired of them stereotyping Wayne during Weird Newscasters. He also plays a black man, like James Brown last night, and he is also often given Stevie Wonder and other such characters. C'mon, the guy is very versatile. Get past the race. He can do ANYBODY! 5) Drew is getting much better at improv, but there is still a bit too much "Hey, Mom, I'm dong Improv on TV" mugging! Improv is more SUBTLE than that. At least he's *getting* it now. 6) If I could see Greg do Party Quirks on every show, I could die a happy person. I didn't LOVE the quirks, but just watching Greg this time was HEESTERICAL, as it nearly always is. I used to love to see him banter w/ Clive (sniffle), but he still has fun w/ it. That's it for now. A good, if not great, ep. Of course, it didn't have Wayne OR (esp.) Brad on it, so I had to deduct points. Ryan hates doing those, so he often messes them up intentionally. (The "please the f**king Brit* HD came from Dan's asking Ryan to get a bigger laugh than Colin did.) As for the Scooby Doo impression, Greg's was the best. Ryan got the "Ru-Roe" thing though. I liked the way Colin and Ryan shared a laugh about Colin's Scooby impression. It twas funny. Funny stuff. "Well, it's the easiest thing in the world, you put one foot in front of the other and you move" Stuttering omitted of course. I loved that earthquake rap she did with Wayne....hey, where is Wayne, anyway? (n/t) (13-Aug-1999 09:13:27) Steph: Dale? YOu mean Denny? Wayne *is* on a rotating thing here, and it's only one episode. He can't be on all of them, you know. And it was nice to finally have Greg back. He's only been on a few DLs. A very hard game to play...Plus I don't think it's one of his favourites..And yet again his hair was wonderful and different..:o) (Splashing himself on weird newscasters was a splash hit with the audience and myself...I'll pay good money to see him wet and damp again!!!)
