(I realize that sometimes certtain things have to be redone...but 3 hours???? For 44 minutes >>>Doesn't compute.) Oy did I just say compute?? Sunday, 15-Aug-1999 19:33:18 208.149.16.176 writes: OK, this is very hard to explain by typing so I will just use some numbers to show you: Desc Time Actual taping and Standards & Practices post-production (censoring) 1 Hr Sound re-engineering and misc. video cleanup (re-green screening for broadcast quality) 1 Hr Tape editing, segmenting, SMPTE encoding (timing signals for the network), mastering to disu. tape, etc. 1 Hr Actually, when you think about it, it takes longer then this because the copy has to be distributed to local affiliates, advertising has to be created/modified, etc. Hope this helps! Sunday, 15-Aug-1999 21:21:03 205.200.28.46 writes: Biggest reason? A lot of games don't work, and a lot will never make it through the censor. The idea has always been to try and get 2 eps out of a taping, so they play a ton of games. They do extra Drew games, extra intros, and extra credit readings in case they need them (if you'll remember the UK version, they did get 3 eps out of a series 9 taping and didn't have enough intros). Some games are longer than what you see too (they do WW and Props until they can't think of any more). They also have to do extra intros into breaks, because they don't know what games are going to be included in what order. A few times they had to weed through some Song Styles canditates because their jobs were inappropriate (like the special education teacher last weekend). There are breaks for setting up shots, changing tape, and peeing. It all adds up.
