New series of HIGNFY/Merton in megabucks deal/Clive's talk show Tuesday, 31-Aug-1999 18:08:00 195.92.194.19 writes: Three things to report: HIGNFY will return for its 18th series on BBC2 at some point in the next month. This has just been confirmed by the BBC, though was inevitable as they always do a run of shows up to Christmas. No starting date or guest details as yet. Paul Merton has been offered a "golden handcuffs" deal by the BBC to stay with the corporation. The tabloids report that the contract, which will involve his HIGNFY and Room 101 commitments as well as new projects, is worth a six figure sum, though each paper varies in its value of the deal, the highest quoted figure being £500,000. The new series of Clive Anderson All Talk begins on Thursday this week. Adam Sandler has been confirmed as one guest.
